~Aqua's POV~

It was yet another boring and slow day here in the lair. Mikey was eating pizza, Raph was training, Donnie was reading, Leo was training, and Akira was being Akira. And then I... well I was doing absolutely nothing. It's been FOREVER since our last adventure and I didn't have the heart to accept it.

"Ugh this is so boring! What are we supposed to do, live the rest of our lives here until we turn old with gray hair?!" Mikey started to shout.

"Technically we can't grow gray hair." Donnie answered his question.

"Nobody asked you dorktopus." Akira glared at him.

I giggled. "Well, it has been a while since our last adventure."

"Which one was that?" Leo asked me.

"Huh, I don't remember. It's been a while." I laughed softly.

"Of course you don't remember anything." Akira scoffed.

"Hey, look sis. It's been a long minute since we were up there. There's no need to be all salty about it." I crossed my arms.

"She's right Akira. You're starting to disrespect your older sister." Leo said.

"That's not nice how you're talking to her like that. She's a really sweet girl." Mikey said.

"She ain't my mom though." Akira looked away.

"So what if she's not your mom. At least be glad that she's in the place of your mom either way."

Akira rolled her eyes in annoyance. "Whatever. I wanna go outside."

"Me too." Raph agreed with her.

"I guess I could go for fresh air too." Donnie nodded as he puts his book down.

"Uhh ditto." Mikey said.

"Hmm... well it's been a few weeks. I guess we can go out to clear our minds." Leo said. "You coming babe?" he looked at me.

"Yeah. I'll come along." I sat up. "Thinking about outside makes me wanna go up there."

"Alright guys. Let's get going." Leo said as he walked out of the lair first.

As I followed behind him, I was a little excited to go back up on the surface. But it would feel weird knowing that there aren't anymore mutant enemies at our city turf.

~A while later...~

After we got out of the sewer cap sanctuary, we climbed up to the top of the building roof and looked down at the sights of Manhattan.

"Man. I forgot how beautiful it is." Mikey said.

"What is?" Akira asked in a sarcastic tone.

"The lights."

"Yeah. Whatever." Akira rolled her eyes. "Except this city is full of new life of Pokemon."

Mikey was right. Manhattan was really full of lights that were as bright as a million fireflies, and it was a sight to see. I sat down on the edge of the roof to take in the site. Things really have changed since these new creatures called Pokémon came to the lives of humans and somewhat us mutants. We didn't know where exactly they came from, but from the looks of them, most of them are friendly and some are dangerous.

"Let's not stay up here for too long guys. The sun will rise soon." Leo said.

"You always say that fearless. Let's just relax and enjoy it." Raph said.

"I know. But you'll never know what kind of danger could be lurking here."

"Here he goes again with the danger this, danger that. Yada, yada, yada. I hate that." Akira huffed.

"Oh quit being a sourpuss Akira. You know he's always concerned about our safety." Mikey nudged her.

"Whatever." she said as she sat in the top of the water tower with Raph by her side.

It felt like forever since I've seen the city at its finest glory. It felt like I was looking at it for hours. I was watching the city skyline until I saw something at the top of the Empire State Building glowing an eerie green color. "Umm guys?" I said and looked back to see them all talking. I cleared my throat. "Guys?"

Leo turned his head. "What is it? You smell something babe?"

"Not smell, but I saw something glowing green on the top of the Empire State."

"Are you sure babe?"

"Yes. I'm sure." I nodded my head.

"Maybe she's going blind." Akira chuckled.

"I'm not joking." I crossed my arms. I looked back at the top of the large structure. "Huh? But it was right there." my ears were lowered.

"Maybe you're just tired love." Leo patted my head. "Let's go home and get some rest."

"But..." I sighed and looked back at him again. "Alright. Maybe I am feeling a little tired." I rubbed my eyes. "Even though we got up here for just a moment."

"Okay. Come guys, back home to the lair." Leo ordered his brood.

"Aww." Donnie and Raph groaned.

"Lame." Mikey sighed.

"Yeah. Lame is the right word." Akira rolled her eyes.

"You better listen to me or I'll teach all of you a lesson. Minus Aqua of course." Leo winked at me.

"Oh boy." I laughed nervously.

"Yada, yada, yada, blah, blah, blah." Akira was mocking him.

"That does it. Get over here!" Leo said as he ran after Akira, chasing her on the rooftops towards the horizon.

I giggled softly as I was walking behind the others heading back to the lair. I kept looking back and wondered to myself what that green light could've been. The light was green and it was bright, just floating around the ESB. I took off my backpack and took out my black sheep doll.

"B.B. I know something is out there. What do you think I should do?" I asked my stuffed animal friend and placed her by my ear. "We should go investigate tomorrow night? Well... okay. I guess a solo patrol wouldn't hurt anybody." I nodded to myself.

"Aqua, come on!" Mikey called to me.

"Okay. Coming!" I said as I put Black Beauty back in my backpack and scurried after the others.
