"I am out with lanterns, looking for myself."
◇Vers
Their unit broke out of the water silently, their Kree mission suits masking their face and their technology allowing them to breath underwater.
Vers gave a brief glance to Naye who seamlessly integrated with them, following their lead.
Yon-Rogg voiced a quiet command. "Vers, track Soh-Larr's beacon. Att-Lass, Minerva, find elevation. Naye, on me."
Everyone took off to complete their orders, all silent and all stealthy. Vers did as told, working on her task as she moved forward.
Minerva spoke over their communications but all they were receiving was static.
"Minn-Erva?" Yon-Rogg asked, fiddling with his suit technology. "Repeat." When no audible reply came he made a noise of annoyance.
Vers didn't hear what else he had to say, moving forward quickly to a high ledge and looking out over the dark canyon to a temple. Soh-Larr's beacon was coming from there.
A few moments later, Bron-Char, Korath, Yon-Rogg, and Naye joined her location, all of them knelt behind the landscape. It harbored boulders and a nice layer of ever moving dust. This worked to their advantage, keeping them out of view for now.
"His beacon's coming from that temple," She told them. "Let's move.""No," Yon-Rogg disagreed. "This is a perfect spot for an ambush. Only one way in, only one way out."
She frowned slightly at the disapproval.
Bron-Char spoke up, siding with her idea. "We can get past the locals.""We still don't know if they are locals. Too risky."
Vers blinked in surprise at Naye's words. She was new but clearly had an idea of what she was talking about.
What was also strange was that the blonde normally found herself annoyed at a difference in opinion to her own... especially when it went against something she wanted to do. But for some reason the brunette's disagreement didn't bug her. Maybe it was the calm and reasoning tone Naye used, like nothing she said was personal, just logical.
Yon-Rogg nodded his agreement. "Precisely."
Vers still thought her plan was the best option though. "You don't have to go with me. I'll go alone." She made to stand before being stopped.
"No, you won't."
The Commander's voice was stern, halting her actions. They shared a look and he sighed, quickly checking their surroundings. "Right. We keep a close radius. We lose comms, we meet back at the Helion." He looked her over. "Come on. Naye, stay on us." Vers grinned as she stood, proud to have him agree.
She noticed the brunette looked a little tense."Not scared, are you?" Vers smirked, looking the new woman over. "Don't worry, I'll protect you."
Naye just took a breath and followed but not before murmering a reply in a tone of long suffering which Vers didn't entirely appreciate. Naye hadn't been around that long yet, the blonde can't have been that annoying in such a short space of time, could she? "Good to know."
They crossed a bridge, sand and darkness still covering them. Korath and Bron-Char kept their six well guarded.
Reaching the other side and crossing over some ruins, it was only a few moments before Torfans were in front of them and moving closer. At least they appeared to be Torfan.
"Get back!" Korath warned, gun out and aimed at the locals. "Commander?" He asked.
Vers moved ahead, looking around. She sensed movement right beside her and fought a grin. Naye was next to her, gun aimed efficiently as her eyes scanned their surroundings, body poised for a fight.
"Thought Yon-Rogg wanted you close to him?" Vers asked, knowing that their Commander wanted just that. First missions were important, he'd want to have eyes on the brunette the whole time.
