Awik's POV
Me and my best friend, Dev have come together to attend the school reunion party. It's been a good thirty minutes since we entered this so-called exciting and worthwhile celebration, and we are bored to hell.
You think we are partying around just like everybody. Nopes!
No! We are surely not dancing and swaying our bodies with some random girl whom we just met. Not at all!
Also, No! We are not chugging vodka shots at the bar counter.
Oh, and please don't think either of us is busy making out with a girl on a couch. Our coward ass can never!
Nothing like such occurred here. Bollywood has surely made all of us crazy.
On the contrary, Dev and I have taken on the roles of conventional Indian aunties and devoted ourselves to making picky and detrimental comments toward everyone in our immediate vicinity.
"Is this Neha over there? She still has that evil look settled on her face."
"The girl leaning over the bar counter is Ritika. Haina?
"Look there! That Karan from 11th A has finally grown a beard!"
"That's Sid? What the hell!"
"The girl who's dancing at the center is Nisha. Wait, who's that boy with her?"
"That's Aarush? That Aarush from 11th B who bunked school during external exams?"
It feels like everyone here has gone through some major life-turning transformation and we both are the only ones who are left behind.
I observed how our batch mates arrived here in their luxury cars, while we both bickered like monkeys for twenty minutes before arriving here.
The reason you ask?
Petrol price!
None one of us was ready to take out their car to travel two hours! Misers indeed.
At last, we settled on a deal that Dev's car is going to be in use for today, while I will be taking him for lunch to his favourite restaurant this Saturday, which I should mention is expensive as hell.
The ringing of my phone disrupted our Oh-so-crucial-substantial and extensive gossip session.
*Manager Vivek* a scowl made its way to my face as I saw the name of the caller flashing on my phone screen. My manager wants to have his happy little talk with me I guess.
"Are Yar! What does he want from me now? I've already resigned na." I whined.
No Awik! Behave a little maturely here.
I randomly looked around to check if anyone witnessed my drama which I pulled a few seconds back.
I can never understand the need for these clowns to call me on weekends or on my off days.
Don't they understand the concept of office hours?
Or they have never been told about the concept of a clock, which they can use to see the time?
Since the music here is blasting loudly and my hearing ability is on the verge of breaking, I excuse myself to find a decent corner where I could take the call.
I was on my way back to the event after winding up the conversation with my manager when someone abruptly slammed into me. Reflexively, I reached out and grasped her waist to keep her from tumbling to the floor.
