Chapter 5 : Alone in The Woods

It was around 9 o'clock when Megumin woke up. She was still a little bit tired from all of those recent events. Even if she loves to sleep with her boyfriend, she still manages to be tired after waking up.

Megumin rises up to be in a sitting position. She stretches her arms, followed by a small yawn. She noticed, by her side, the young man still sleeping. She thought maybe she could wake him up like she did yesterday, but seeing the bandages around his body reminded her of what happened last night. It would be better for him if she let him sleep more.

She thought maybe she could do her daily explosion. There were empty plains close to the camp so this area would be perfect for that. It's been two days since she wasn't able to cast explosion. The last time she did was when she fought the Dullahan.

Megumin grabs all of her clothes and dresses up to go outside. When she opened the entrance leading outside, her face went completely blank. This terrifying creature lying on the ground with the neck covered in blood and with no sign of life on its face. She grabs a stick and pokes him on the face to be sure it's dead. Nothing, he was completely unresponsive.

She was now reassured of the death of the beast. She heads now towards the east, where she spotted that plains where she would cast her explosion. It only took a few minutes before reaching the spot. The view from there was unbelievable. Everything was great, from the chirps of birds to the small wind blowing onto Megumin's face. Some fresh air. The plains remind her of the one she saw in her dream from that night. That's why she wanted to go there in the first place.

She enjoyed the view before beginning her spell and appreciating the beauty of mother nature. Enough looking around, time to blow some shit up.

Meanwhile, back at the camp

Kazuma just started to wake up. He expected to see Megumin when he woke up b, t she was nowhere to be seen. He looked around the tent and her clothes were gone. She might have already left the camp to do something outside. He sat up to check his bandages. Some blood had gone through the bandages during the night. He removed them and took another roll from the first aid kit, wrapping himself with some fresh bandages. Those deep scratches didn't completely heal, so he had to avoid infection and to make the situation woworsehan it already was.

He grabs his shirt and gets out of the tent. Weirdly enough, Megumin was nowhere to be seen. He was starting to get worried as he checked his surroundings. She might have gone further into the forest for some unknown reasons, but Kazuma didn't she left the camp without telling him first. He searched more further in the woods but still no signs of his girlfriend.

He was about to lose hope of finding her. He heads back at camp to expect her to be back from her little exploration. When he arrived at the camp, the sound of an explosion could be heard not that far from there. This familiar sound made him instantly feel better, to know that she was fine and still able to explode everything on her path. She was gone to do her explosion but without him. Why didn't you ask him to come with her?

He made his way towards the direction where the explosion came from. It was leading him out of the forest, and he was now in an empty plain without any trees around. The surroundings were so peaceful and calm. He was not here to enjoy the view but here to look after Megumin. It didn't long for him to find her lying down on the ground and unable to move a muscle. She fell face first on the ground. He got close to her, and she knew that something was getting close to her.
