RIGGINS HOUSE
Dakota is sitting on the steps of the house with Lyla beside her. Dakota has tears welled up in her eyes.
Lyla: Kota, we have to stop this. Look at me.
Dakota slowly turns her head staring at her, a lone tear rolls down her face.
Lyla: Jason is getting out of there soon. He's changing. He's getting back to his old self
Dakota: So you're done with me?
Lyla: Kota, don't.
Dakota: Don't what?
Lyla: Don't react like this. You knew this had to end. I take full responsibility for everything that's happened. It's all my fault.
Dakota: Sounds like it was the biggest mistake of your life.
Lyla: I feel like I have to make a choice here, Kota. Before things get more messed up then they already are. I care about you. I do. I just......I can't live with myself anymore.
Dakota chokes back a sob and stands up and walks into the house. Lyla sighs lowering her head and lets the tears flow.
GROCERY STORE
Billy pushes a cart down a aisle with Dakota riding on the front, Tim walking alongside.
Billy: Look, Jack.....I'm sorry I misfiled that invoice.
The Twins begins throwing chips and food into the cart. Tim grabs a large stack of meat
Billy: Back
He yanks it out of his hand and places it back. Dakota throws a bag of chips into the cart. Billy hangs up his phone
Tim: Whoa, whoa, whoa----you're kidding, right?
Billy: No, you gotta start eating better.
Dakota: Why?
Billy: Because he had a hell of a game last week. All right? We need to feed the beast. Keep it up. I'm not joking about this.
The Riggins twins shakes their heads annoyed watching their brother walk down the aisle.
RIGGINS HOUSE-NIGHT
Lyla knocks at the door waiting patiently until Dakota opens the door
Dakota: Hi.
She steps out on the porch and closes the door
Lyla: He knows.
Dakota: What?
Lyla: He knows. Jason knows.
Dakota: W-what? Does he know because you told him?
Lyla: No. He asked me
Dakota: We didn't tell him.
Lyla: He asked me if something happened and I said no but----
Dakota: There's nothing else to do. We're done. You wanted it off, so it's off. As far as I'm concerned, you're Jay's girl and always has been. No matter how big of a crush I've had on you.
Lyla's eyes widens in shock hearing her say that.
Dakota: Let's move on.
The door opens revealing Tyra
Tyra: Hey Lyla
Lyla: Hi
She looks between them both, clearly hurt and thinking something happened between them.
Tyra: How's Jason doing?
Lyla: He's good. He's real good. Um......I just actually came by to invite Tim and Kota. Jason's doing a scrimmage thing this Thursday at the center.
Tyra: That's really sweet
She moves her eyes between Lyla and Dakota slightly jealous when it hits her.
Dakota: Thanks for letting me know.
Lyla: Yeah, see ya.
She turns and walks back towards her car. Tyra smirks wrapping her arm around Dakota's shoulder
Tyra: Lyla Garrity? Really? That's the girl you told me about?
Dakota: Um.......
Tyra scoffs, rolling her eyes again slightly jealous.
