RIGGINS HOUSE

There's a loud knocking at the door

Dakota: I'm coming!

She opens the door to reveal Tyra standing there.

Tyre: You're not in school?

Dakota: No, I ditched Calcalus. It's no big deal.

Tyre: You ditched a class? Have you ever in your life ditched a day in class?

Dakota: Yeah. Like af few times.

Tyra gives her a look

Dakota: No.

Tyre: I didn't think so.

Tyre sighs

Tyre: How are you doing?

Dakota: Tyre, it's no big deal.

Tyre: I wanted to see if you talked to anyone about this. Have you told your brothers?

Dakota: No. No.

Tyre: I'm sorry

Dakota: Yeah, well.

Tyre: There's gotta be someone that you can tell about this.

Dakota: No. There's no one! It's nobody's business. So don't go telling anybody. You understand?

Tyre sighs staring at her sadly and slowly nods her head.

Tyre: Yeah

Dakota: I just want to forget about it.

She goes back in the house and closes the door. She leans her back against her, looking down at her shaking hands.

DILLIAN HIGH

Dakota is nervously fiddling with her fingers sitting in Tammy's office.

Dakota: It's just that this friend made me promise not to say anything.

Tami: Well, that's-----that's----that's common, I think. Sometimes when people experience trauma, they, sometimes want to hide. From fear of reprisal. Or judgement. Sometimes that happens.

Dakota: Is there some kind of law that if I do tell you the student's name, that you've got to report it? Isn't-----isn't---isn't that some kind of law?

Tami: Um........I don't want you to be offended by this but if it turns out that your friend is actually you, I want you to feel comfortable.

A lone tear rolls down Dakota's cheek, her hands are shaking

Dakota: Y-yes. I'm talking about me.

Tami looks at her in shock while nodding her head

POLICE STATION

Dakota is sitting at a table, Billy is sitting beside her and Tim is pacing back and forth, clenching his jaw in anger

Man: Let me ask you one more time; do you remember leaving anything behind?

Dakota: No.

Man: But he came outside he had a notebook that looked like yours?

Dakota: It looked like mine but it wasn't. I already told you I didn't leave anything.

The cop looks down writing something down in his note pad.

Billy: Hey are we done here? Can we go now?

Man: I believe that about covers it. We just have to get a few pictures.

Dakota shallows a nervous gulp. Billy sighs placing his hand on her shoulder giving a gentle squeeze. Tim clenches his hands into fists, digging his nails into the palm of his hand.

ROOM

A female cop is now in the room with Dakota

Cop: Turn your head to the left.

Dakota turns to the left, raising her hair up showing a giant bruise across the back of her neck.

She raises her shirt up showing a bruise on her stomach.

Billy and Tim are standing behind the glass; their eyes widens in anger and rage, their jaws clenches.

OUTSIDE

Dakota walks outside the station; Lyla walks up to her

Lyla: Hey, Tim called me. I'm sorry.

Dakota looks at her, eyes welling up with tears. Lyla wraps her arms around her as she buries her head in her chest crying. Lyla runs her hand through her hair, kissing her on the side of her head.

TEAM DINNER

Dakota is sitting at a table, biting her nails nervously and anxious until she stands up and walks away. She walks past the table Jason and Tim are sitting at

Jason watches her go confused

Jason: Hey, is Kota all right?

Tim: No, I don't think she's gonna be alright for a while

Jason: What's that mean? Everything okay?

Tim leans in and whispers in his ear. Jason's eyes widens in shock as he looks at Tim

Jason: W-wait what
