I walk into my apartment, and before I've even closed the door, I smell it. That same rancid smell, like something rotting. I slowly close the door behind me, and set my keys on the table beside the door. I pull out my phone and turn on my flashlight to see. The smell is powerful, and I begin feeling dizzy and like I'm about to hurl. I slowly make my way around the apartment, turning the lights on as I go. I find my cat asleep curled with my dog on the couch, and my snake curled up in her enclosure. I find nothing out of the ordinary, but there has to be something, I know it. I talked about it to Sam and Colby, and now it's making an appearance. But I haven't seen it yet. Only smelled the horrible stench it brings everywhere it goes. I can feel it's been here. It's almost as if it taints any place it walks, leaving a trail of negative energy behind it. I decide maybe now would be a good time to grab a bite to eat and call Sam and Colby. I make my way cautiously to the kitchen and begin making an omelet. As I'm pulling the things I need from the fridge, the smell intensifies, and I feel a wave of anxiety wash over me. I drop the egg I was holding and turn around to find it standing in the corner of the pantry, and it quickly vanishes. I turn off the stove and dial Colby's number via Face time.

He answers after the first ring.

"Hey Bianca, thank you for calling back, we're super excited to have you on this investigation." He says, but I can tell he's feeling nervous about something.

"I'm sorry it took so long, I just got home from work not that long ago." I decide maybe for now to keep what just happened to myself, I don't want to freak them out any. Colby looks like he just saw a ghost.

"You're all good. So, we made a video letting the viewers know that we are going back to Queen Mary and that we have a new medium on our team! We just uploaded it a little while ago, and had to make a few edits.. but other than that it was pretty good!" He tells me, he still seems nervous about something though.

"Oh cool, I'm super excited, but is everything okay? You just seem kind of anxious about something..." I say hesitantly.

"Yeah, I guess just nervous about going back to Queen Mary after we swore to never go back there again. That and when we were filming earlier we saw something in the footage. Like a shadow figure but it was so brief. Like had I blinked I would have missed it." I'm shook, it couldn't be the same thing I saw in my apartment right?

"A shadow figure? You're sure it wasn't just lighting casting a shadow of you guys or something?" I ask, I need to know if it's the same thing or something different.

"I mean, Sam, and I think it was actually something. We cut that small bit of footage out for now but we still have it saved on the drive. I can email it to you if you want to check it out?"

"Yeah, I can take a look at it. Were there any other signs of something being there? Any smells or noises that were out of the norm? Any sensation of a negative presence?" Better to get all of the information now and compare it to what I experienced.

"I started having a sick feeling in my stomach that it wasn't anything good for sure... No noises though, not that we heard anyways." Just as he says this, my phone notifies me my battery is at 10%, which is odd because it was charged to 100% right before I left work, there's no way my phone is almost dead already.

"Okay, well send me the footage, I'll take a look here soon and give you guys a call back. The reason I'd asked is because when I got home from work, right before I called you actually, it was in my apartment. I smelled it and felt the negativity before I was even fully through the door. I went to make an omelet and turned around and it was standing by my pantry. I want to make sure it's not the same thing or something equally as malevolent." Colby's face is in shock at what I've just said, and he simply stares at me for a moment before speaking again.

"... Maybe you should stay on the phone until you've reached a conclusion. We wouldn't want anything to happen on our account. Or at all for that matter." Colby's face is beet red blushing, and I can feel mine heating too. Is he saying he cares about me? He said "we" but I haven't seen or heard Sam the entire phone call.

"I think that's probably a good idea.." I say to him, fetching my laptop from the shelf under the coffee table in my living room. "Go ahead and email me the clip, I've texted you my email address." It doesn't take long for Colby to send the footage, and for me to open it on my computer. I watch until I see it. A dark shadow-looking figure. Even just looking at it through a screen gives me a bad feeling. But not an evil feeling like the presence I felt. More of a sad, longing bad feeling. Whatever this is, didn't want to show its face, but wanted to make it known it was there.

"Did you see it? Or are Sam and I finally losing our sanity because of this stuff?" He asks sarcastically with a chuckle.

"I definitely saw it. But the feeling I get from it isn't the same as the feeling I've been getting. Honestly, I don't think this is an evil spirit at all. It didn't want to show its face, but it gave a sad energy. Almost like a longing. I think this is a human spirit, maybe someone who wants to contact you but is scared to do so? I'm really not 100% sure without being there to feel it for myself." I say to him, he's hanging on every last word.

"Well, I could ask Sam and I'm sure he'd be down to have you come over, maybe have a mini investigation before Queen Mary?" He says. Maybe that'd be good for me, get away for a little longer than just the main event.

"I mean I'm down, as long as Sam's okay with it."

"As long as I'm okay with what?" I hear Sam say. He must have just entered the room.

"Bianca coming here to try to figure out what this thing is," Colby tells him. We explain to Sam my findings so far based off of the footage, but that I need to feel it for myself, and maybe even try to contact it and ask its intentions for being there.

"Hell yeah, mini-investigation? Let's do it!" Sam responds, sounding pretty enthusiastic after hearing that it isn't an evil or inhuman entity.

"Okay, well let me drop my animals with my friend and I'll head to the airport. I'm only a state over so it shouldn't be too long of a flight." We say our goodbyes and I begin packing for the trip. I call one of my best friends to watch the animals, and she agreed, even to watch them here so I don't have to take them anywhere. On my way to the airport, I think about what this adventure holds. For the first time ever, I don't know what to even try to expect.
