Ian's PoV:

Me, Lip and Mandy are walking next to the El.
Ian: Hey, you seen Taylor around? She's been missing, she owes me 50 bucks.
Mandy: She'll be on her feet soon.
Lip: What happened?
Mandy: My dad pistol-whipped her.
Lip: Why?
Mandy: Since when does anyone need a reason to pistol-whip Taylor? Hey, you signed up yet?
Lip: For what?
Mandy: SAT? The deadline's tomorrow. I told you.
Lip: I'll do it online. Takes two seconds.

Taylor's PoV:

I can't hurt Ian like that. Do i break up with him? Should i do it so my dad doesn't hurt him again?
I don't want anyone to know what happened. So many thoughts run through my mind as i shoot a teddy bear at the top of an abandoned building. Ian walks up and stands a bit behind me, he laughs. I ignore him.
Ian: So uh, thanks to me, you've been pistol-whipped. Just wanna make sure you're okay. Hey, i can't stop thinking about it. What happened.
I continue to fire the gun and ignore what Ian's saying. Inside it's breaking me.
Ian: Would you at least look at me?! Fine.
I shoot more and more as he walks away, tears fill my eyes when he's gone.

Fiona's PoV:

Me, Veronica, Lip and Ian are stood in my room with a dead body on the bed whose supposed to be aunt ginger. Lip covers her naked body up with a blanket then gets some scissors out.
Lip: Okay, who wants to do the honours?
I then look down at the body and shake my head.
Lip: Look, the real Aunt Ginger lost a toe. Somebody's gotta snip it. V your a nurse.
Veronica: Not a chance.
Then Ian walks over to Lip and grabs the scissors.
Ian: All right, oh fuck.
Then Ian opens the scissors and puts it to her toe.
Fiona: Won't it bleed?
Veronica: The heart's stopped pumping.
Then Ian tries to do it and then he backs out. I walk over and take the scissors from him.
Fiona: Glue it shut when i'm done.
I go to cut the toe off and then i hear a door open and close downstairs. I walk out of the room. They all follow behind me. We walk downstairs to see Debbie stuffing her face at the fridge.
Fiona: Debbie? What's going on?
Lip: Are you okay?
Debbie: I can't talk. Hungry.
Fiona: Are they not feeding you?
Debbie: Do we have any more milk?
Fiona: Your not going back there.
Debbie: I gotta bring food to the others.
Veronica: Grab bread and cereal. We're gonna need grocery bags.
Lip: Yeah, Yeah, Yeah.
Fiona: Your coming home Debs, i promise.
Then I walk upstairs grab the scissors and cut her toe off. I gag a little bit whilst doing it. Then we all go to bed.

Taylor's PoV:

Fiona messaged me saying we're going to court against Frank for her to be the legal guardian of the kids. Me and Fiona are there first and then Frank comes along.
Frank: They don't give you extra credit for being early.
Fiona: Where's your lawyer?
Frank: In labour, crapping out a kid. Representing myself.
Fiona: Got some bad news. Aunt ginger passed away. Yeah, on the plus side turns out she left me the house.
Frank: What did you do?
Fiona: Only what I had to. How about a thank you? No danger they'll haul you away for social security fraud.
Frank: No more checks to cash either, fuck you very much.
Fiona: Always about the money isn't it.
Lawyer: We'll work this out inside. That's why we're here.
I'm still sat on the chair, i haven't said a word. My face still busted up. Then all the kids come around the corner.
Carl: Fiona!
Fiona: Hey, I missed you so much. Hey, where's my little man.
Then Fiona hugs Liam and then Ian and Lip walk around the corner. I sigh and then stand up, wincing a little in pain. I ruff up Carl's hair and then hug him, i hug Debbie too.
Fiona: Get the will?
Lip: Yeah, i got it.
Fiona: Go file it, now.
Lip: Okay.
Then we all walk inside, i sit next to Steve and Veronica. Ian on the other side, i can't even bring myself to look at him.
Judge: DFS, like to get us started here?
Britney: Thank you, your honour. Britney Sturges, Department of Family Services. After receiving a report about the home, I found the children under Francis Gallagher, in a state of neglect. We subsequently removed the children from the home for their protection.
Judge: Mr Gallagher, you want the children back?
Frank: There my kids, your honour.
Judge: The mother has relinquished her parental rights.
Carl: What does that mean?
Debbie: Monica doesn't wanna be our mom?
Fiona: She did it so I can bring you home.
Judge: And Ms Gallagher has filed a petition to terminate the father's parental rights.
Fiona: Yes, your honour.
Judge: Are you prepared to assume custody?
Fiona: I am. I can provide a stable environment for the kids. Something that has been sorely lacking with our father. I have a full-time job and I will soon own a home.
Judge: Your brother Ian testified about your father's months-long absence. Did his disappearance make you sad?
Carl: I don't know.
Judge: We're you glad when he came back?
Carl: He got me into camp.
Judge: Camp?
Carl: My first time.
Judge: Had a good time at camp.
Carl: Yeah.
Judge: Happy when he came back?
Carl: I guess.
Judge: What about you, Deborah? We're you glad when your father came back?
Debbie: I was glad he wasn't dead.
Judge: You miss him whilst he was gone?
Debbie: Uh, very much.
Judge: Did he get you into camp?
Debbie: No, I spent the summer at the pool. Daddy helped me learn.
Judge: How to swim?
Debbie: Sort of. It was a hard summer, wouldn't of made it through without him. Fiona helped me too and Taylor.
Judge: Taylor?
I raise my hand from behind Fiona and the judge looks at me.
Taylor: Taylor Milkovich, your honour.
Judge: Milkovich? Any relation to Mickey or Terry.
Taylor: Brother and father sir.
The judge nods his head and then looks back at Frank.

Judge: Mr Gallagher, you have very special children.
Frank: That's why i had to leave, your honour. I couldn't stand to see them live through my battles with addiction any longer. It was my fight, not theirs.
Judge: So you left?
Frank: To get help. Sometimes the hardest part is admitting you need it and I didn't wanna come home until I was clean and sober. A father they could be proud of. It isn't easy but every day I still have one of these is a good day.
He shows a sober token that he must've stole from someone. I just scoff quietly and laugh to myself.
Fiona: Your not buying this, are you?
Judge: Miss Gallagher.
Fiona: Have you seen his record?
Judge: Right here. Breaking and entering, drunk and disorderly, public urination, solicitation, possession, possession with intent, domestic disturbance, four DUIs and you don't even own a car.
Frank: Alcohol is a cruel mistress.
Fiona: He hasn't stopped drinking. He never will.
Frank: Your honour, If i may? Fiona has been hurt by my behaviour too may times to believe i've changed. That's my fault, not hers. She has left things going in my absence and I will be forever grateful. I'm not the perfect parent. I like to have a good time, to live life to the fullest. Sometimes I go too far. But I love my kids, they mean the world to me. I don't know.. I don't know what id be if i wasn't dad.
Then he manages to get fake tears out, i try to contain my laughter.
Frank: I'd be nothing. Please don't ask my kids away from me.
Judge: Miss Gallagher, you wanna tell me why your father should be declared unfit?
Fiona: We were living out of a car once. Uncle Nick had kicked us out. Couldn't find anyone else who'd take us in. Lip and Ian and me were sleeping in the backseat when Frank pulled over.
Middle of the night, think it was Halsted. Told me to take the boys and sit on the curb, and he'd be right back. I was 6. A few hours later, we're still sitting on the sidewalk and Ian's head is burning up. He's hysterical, I don't know what to do. So I ran down the street, Lip under one arm, Ian under the other, trying to flag down help. Would've been easier scoring crack than a ride to clinic. I finally made it on foot. They said Ian had a fever of 104. Another couple hours and who knows? I didn't find Frank till a couple days later.
First thing he asked me was how much money I had on me. I wish i could say that was the only time but it was just the first.

I take a deep breath and look at Ian, he doesn't notice thank god.
Fiona: My mothers Bipolar and my fathers an alcoholic and an addict. He takes what he pleases and he offers nothing. No money, No support. Ive done what I could to help raise my siblings. I wish i could've done more. I'm not asking for your pity or your admiration, I just wanna give these kids everything they deserve because they're great kids and they deserve better.
Judge: Chambers please.
Then Fiona and the judge go in a room and talk. A few minutes later they come back in and sit down.

Judge: Mr Gallagher, you've admitted it's been challenging to handle this responsibility on your own. Now, If i allow you to retain your parental rights. Would you consent to your daughter becoming guardian to these children?
Frank: They'd still be my kids?
Judge: Provided you attend 60 days of AA.
Frank: But she'd have all the responsibility?
Judge: Not all, but yes.
Frank: Works for me.
Then the judge signals for Fiona to stand up and she does.
Judge: Do you agree to be the guardian of these children?
Fiona: Yes, I do.
Judge: Well, that will be my order then. Take your children home.
Then we all cheer for her and she hugs them all. Then Frank left and went to the Alibi room. I just go back home, my actual home.
