STEVE RODGERS

I watched as Bucky left in a hurry as soon as me and Clint arrived. I excused myself to go check on him.

I reached his room and knocked: KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK-

"Oi, what is it?" Bucky's face appeared, and a scowl formed on his face.

"Well, you left in such a hurry, I thought I'd better check up on you," I said, honestly.

"I'm fine," he replied before closing the door in my face.

"Hey," I yelled so that he could hear me. If I listened closely, I could hear the faint laughter of Bucky. At least he still likes tormenting me, I grumbled inaudibly.

***TIME SKIP***

Why the heck is he avoiding me? I can't understand. We used to be best friends. I tried to wrap my mind around it when Tony came along.

"Hey, Steve, uh, your pal isn't eating. So, maybe, you could..." He said, hesitating.

"Why do you care?"

"Well... it's a long story."

"I have enough time."

"No, you drag him out, and I will tell everyone to get to the lounge. Meet me there with Barnes."

I nodded, confused.

***TIME SKIP***

I sighed as I dragged Bucky to the lounge. He was doing his very best, to get away. And he was strong, I was having trouble dragging him to our destination.

"Why the heck are you dragging me to the lounge?" he grunted.

"Stop being an idiot, Tony called you," I reply.

"And how do I know he won't blow me to smithereens?" Bucky demanded.

"Pepper's also there."

"Fine, did he tell you what it's about?"

"Something about a long story"

He stopped trying to pull away, so I looked back to see his face was drawn in horror.

"You remember my Aunt, Maria, don't you?"

"Of course I do. Well..."

He was cut off by me opening the doors.

"Hello, Barnes." Tony waved.

"Hi," Bucky mumbled back.

"So, do you know or you don't know?"

"If you're talking about Maria, then yes, or else no," he replied, once again trying to pull away.

"I am" Tony nodded, and Bucky's effort redoubled.

"Get the f*ck away from me," Bucky demanded.

"No," Tony said gently. Wait, gently?

"Why the heck are you telling the others, then?"

"Because they're family, and-"

Tony was cut off by the door opening and the other Avengers coming in.

"What did he do?" Sam asked when he caught sight of Bucky.

"He, nothing other than being born in a family- at least not this time," Tony replied.

Bucky tripled his efforts to get away from me. Peter came along to help, and so did Thor.

"Please, don't tell, them," Bucky begged. Bucky never begs- at least not when he is in his right mind.

Bucky, using a knife, got away from me, but Tony took action:

"F.R.D.A.Y. lock the doors."

"Yes, sir."

I only then noticed that Pepper was sitting on the couch.

"Please don't tell. Please. Please. Please-" Bucky fell to his knees, suddenly. Pepper was the first to get there. She started mothering around him, placing her hand on his forehead, checking for a fever.

"Bruce, Tones, do SOMETHING!" Pepper screeched.

"F.R.D.I.A.Y., what's wrong with Barnes?" Tony demanded.

"Sir, he appears to have collapsed from not sleeping and eating properly." F.R.I.D.A.Y. answered.

"How long has he not slept in?" I asked, worried.

"Other than naps that last less than an hour, about 2 weeks." F.R.I.D.A.Y. answered.

"And eaten?" Pepper asked

"In about a week mam, the last thing he ate was a chocolate bar."

Wales and cries of "no" erupted.

"And, sirs and mams, he seemed to be having some sort of *put a disease name that happens because you are being exposed to freezing and heat without time to adjust to it*." The AI continued.

"Wait a second- I had been there, he told this to me- why, why didn't I-I t-tell s-so-someone," Wanda cried, burying her head in Vision's chest.

"It's not your fault, you did not know," Vision tried to calm her down.

"Tony freakin' Stark. Take him to the bloody med room. Bruce go prepare the med bay. Everyone, try to help in anyway you can." Pepper yelled, taking charge as everyone else was in a shock.

I ran to Bucky and lifted him up, taking him to the med bay.
