I ran and ran deeply through the woods.
Flashes of Diego's wolf Hunter plagued my mind.
His aura had wildly changed from calm to danger in a split second.
With the way he attack Javi's wolf, I wondered if that guy was alive?
No way. Not with thise set of teeth and claws. Hunter was down right dangerous, making Diego equally dangerous.
I soon found a clearing and relaxed seeing a country road.
I knew I had to get away fast. I'd come too far for them to find me.
I'm not a hitch hiker.
But what's a girl to do, when she just escaped from a very deadly territory crawling with werewolf.
Sticking out my thumb, a minibtruck driver who had a pile of hay at the back, kindly stopped for me.
With no time to waste, I rushed towards it.
"Thankyou for stopping."
"Need a ride chica?"
I nodded my head, as a big fat yes.
"Yes, please just get me out of here!"
"Hop in."
I quickly went around his car and got in.
"Can I please borrow your phone?"
"Where is yours chica?" Asked the guy who looked to be in his early fourties.
"It got stolen by some bad people."
"Bad people?"
"Sir I've been kidnapped by a guy called Mr Luciano Morreno."
The driver's fingers clenched tightly on the stirring wheel. I breifly saw his knuckles go white. He breifly went stiff for a second by the mention of his name.
"Oh." He said with a mild smile.
"You know him?" I asked when he replied after a few seconds later.
The driver wearing a blue flannel shirt shrugged.
"Not personally, but he's a well known person definitely around these parts. A very powerful man chica."
I sighed nodding in agreement.
Then he turned into a side road, off from the main road.
I started feeling a little uncomfortable when he didn't reach out to give me his phone.
Did he forget?
"Sir may I please have your phone?" I reminded.
"I'm sorry chica, my phone is out of service. Here." He pulled out an old looking phone.
I cursed lightly after knowing he was telling me the truth.
"Can you drop me of to a police station?"
"Chica the police station is three hours from here, and my car is low on gas. But don't worry there's one at my house."
I may have jumped in his car out of desperation, but there was no way I was going home with a complete stranger.
"Ummm."
Noticing my immdiate discomfort by the sound of that suggestion the driver then let out a short chuckle.
"Chica don't look so uncomfortable. I am a simple farming man. I promise you I am not a bad guy from the one that you ran from. Here look this is my wife Sarah and my two adorable monsters Rico and Rosie." He pulled down his sun visor from the front and showed me a picture of his family, making me a little relaxed.
