"You're wearing that to work?" Chris frowns as I enter the kitchen the next day. Next to him, Robbie looks up and nearly spits out his cereal, taking in my appearance.

"Why are you wearing that at all?"

I glance down at my outfit—a vest top and a short skirt paired with knee boots. I think I look cute. "What's wrong with it?"

"You might as well go naked," Chris scoffs. In the midst of a heatwave, going naked seems like the ideal amount of clothing.

Rolling my eyes, I grab a piece of bread from the table. "Wouldn't that be a sight."

"I don't know why you want to work there anyway. I could have gotten you a summer job at the Ministry," Chris says, looking disappointed.

"That sounds absolutely dreadful."

"I'm with her. Why would anyone want to spend their summer in that hell hole?" Robbie backs me up.

"I do," Chris retorts. "Seriously though, why are you so dressed up?"

I'm not dressed up.

"She's going on a date," Robbie says and winks.

"I told you, it's not a date," I reply, pointing my bread in Robbie's direction. "It's just a gig, and we are going as friends."

"Who are you going with?" Chris asks. Out of the two, he has a more difficult time adjusting to the fact that I'm old enough to be interested in the opposite sex. Robbie just prefers not to see me with anyone.

"Sirius. My friend." I stress the last part to prevent Robbie from suggesting that Sirius and I are anything other than friends.

"One of the Black boys?" Chris asks and continues after I nod, "I would rather you didn't hang out with him. The Black family has been the bane of my existence the last couple of months after we received intel that they were harbouring dark magical objects."

I press my lips together, holding back my frustration at the idea that Chris believes he has a say in choosing my friends.

"No need to fret, Chris. We like Sirius just fine," Robbie chimes in, attempting to ease the tension. His efforts earn him a playful smack on the back of his head from me before I head out.

Sirius arrives at the store just before my shift ends. He greets Mick with a grin before his gaze lingers on me, subtly traversing up and down my body.

"Blimey, you look nice," he finally says, his eyes still assessing my appearance, making me self-conscious about my outfit, a far cry from the school robes and modest attire Sirius is used to seeing me in. This one is rather revealing, but I've seen girls wear similar outfits on the street. It looks cute on them, but suddenly, I'm very aware that the skirt length makes it tricky to bend over, and I'm not wearing a bra. "You ready to go?"

"Absolutely," I reply, pushing away my insecurities. "But we need to grab something to eat first. I won't survive the gig on an empty stomach."

We get ourselves fish and chips from a shop down the street and munch on them as we head towards the venue.

"So, have you explored many of London's sights during your stay?" I inquire, a chip halfway in my mouth.
