The elevator dinged.
Zane stepped through the doors before pressing another button to go up.
It had been a couple months since Dr. Borg had introduced him to Pixal, and he had been able to catch a break.
A long one at that.
Most would be relieved after a four month break. They may have taken a vacation or kicked up their feet and sleep,
But Zane was an exception.
After realizing he was no longer needed because of Pixal's hard work ethics, all he did for the past few months was stay at home.
He had gotten some work done on his laptop, but it was more of the minor tasks such as replying to emails.
It was a big change, having gone for employee of the month for his hard work to simply answering business calls.
He felt he had no purpose.
He was always the one to assist Dr. Borg, who was like a father to him after his actual one passed away.
Zane felt as thought he needed to look after everyone for their own safety, he couldn't take another loss. The emptiness of losing a loved one is like no other.
Him and his father were very close.
They soon drifted apart as soon as Zane received a job at Borg industries.
The blond holds many regrets as he hadn't been there by his father in his final breaths.
Zane felt a pang in his chest, his own breaths fell shallow as his chest grew heavy.
He stood in the quiet elevator as he recalled the events leading up to now.
Zane sat in front of his desk, organizing receipts, papers, even his pens. The days went by slow so he was left with quite a lot of time in his hands.
He perked up as his phone rung. 'Jay.'
"Hello?"
"Hi Zane! How ya been?" The ecstatic soul greeted.
"Jay? Is something the matter?"
"As a matter of fact—" He began in a joking tone. "Dr. Borg has something urgent to tell you, in person"
