"Zane, please listen" A familiar voice called through the darkness.
Zane perked up with squinted eyes, unable to see. When his eyes finally adjusted to the lighting, he found his father standing right in front of him. But something was off. Something was wrong. His face was distorted, aswell as his voice.
"Father?" He replied in the same tone.
"He is coming."
Zane walked towards his father who seemed to seem more farther away with each step taken. "What do you mean?"
He picked up the pace.
"Father?"
"Zane, listen closely!"
"Father!"
Zane's heart pounded in his ears. Confusion blinded his vision. He finally grabbed his father's arm tightly. The inventor looked down at him, the light washed out of his eyes. "What are you talking about?" The blond spouted. He grabbed his father by the shoulders, the way he stood —so stiff, so calm, yet so urgent— disturbed Zane to the core.
He shouted his father's name once more.
"Zane." Now it was his father's turn to grip him by the shoulders. The sudden move was enough to make Zane stagger backwards.
"There's no time."
"What?-"
"He's taken control."
"Fa—"
"YOU MUST STOP HIM."
Zane wanted to question him more, but a distance was somehow created between them both. Zane cried out for him, yet no response. A loud ringing resonated within his ears.
He tried to run, but something coiled around his legs firmly. He looked down.
A gooey black substance held him down. It made its way up his body. It wrapped itself around his head and over his mouth, preventing him from calling for help.
