-TOM'S POV-
She slams the door once we've entered a small room not far from the cafeteria.
Her footsteps echo on the floor.
I don't even dare look her in the eye. I'm already devastated. Overwhelmed by what she's about to tell me.
She crosses her arms against her chest. I rest my back on the wall opposite her, hands in my pockets, ready to hear whatever she has to say.
Blaire
- Now you're going to tell me everything.Tom
- Why bother, you already know everything. She bangs her fist on the table, startling me slightly.
- I want to hear it from you!
she says, raising her voice.I straighten my head, catching a deep breath of air in my lungs.
Tom
- I'm sorry.She's wide-eyed.
- I beg your pardon? Is that all you have to say to me?Tom
- Blaire.Blaire
- Stop it, Tom. Your excuses are no longer valid.Tom
- I didn't know that.Blaire
- You didn't know?Tom
- Blaire. Listen to me.Blaire
- But I am listening Tom, I'm all yours.I sigh, this is the moment, this is the moment, this is now.
Tom
- I didn't know what I was getting into. I didn't know what was going to happen to me. I didn't know I was going into this vicious circle. It wasn't what he had promised me.Blaire
- Because you thought it was normal what he offered you?!Tom
- No, Blaire, no, of course not. I knew it wasn't right.Blaire
- Then why did you do it?!I swallow loudly.
- Because he left me no choice!Blaire
- Don't raise your voice at me like that, Tom, when you're the one who's at fucking fault here.Tom
- Damn it, Blaire, I'm trying to explain to you that I couldn't go back!Blaire
- Because when he put that gun in your hand you didn't know what to do? So you let go of the fatal blow?I stood there transfixed, still trying to deny it, but she knew, and now I was convinced. That bastard had told her everything, that bastard had dropped my biggest secret.
Blaire
- Answer me, Tom!Tom
- I didn't know anything!Blaire
- Is that even a reason?! Is that your fucking excuse?! You knew nothing?! You knew very well the consequences of your act!At that precise moment, nothing would come out of my mouth, as if she'd wrapped her hands around my neck and squeezed my windpipe until I passed out.
She turns her back on me for a few seconds, no longer wanting to look into the eyes of the monster in front of her.
My legs shake slightly, I feel as if I'm going to fall at any moment.
She faced me again, her gaze planted in mine. Her dark gaze supported my empty one.
