We stared at each other for a moment longer before the first bell sounded. Luckily most of the crowd had already walked away, but Synyster still stood before me. He seemed to be examining me as if he was taking in every single detail. Despite him being my mate, I still felt a bit uncomfortable. Most guys usually don't pay much attention to me... let alone for this long. As if he picked up on this he took a step back giving me some space.

"I guess we should get to class, so I'll see you later?" He sounded hopeful.

"Of course."

"Great. I'll see you after school then."

"Oh, I uh-"

Before I could reply he had already walked off. Nice to know he's confident... if that's what you'd call it. Now what am I supposed to tell the alphas when I show up late? Oh god... That suddenly made me remember the fact that there were other wolves in our territory. I found it odd how Synyster didn't seem to know much about it either. Although he was young, I could tell by the marking that ran up his neck he was a dominant; which also meant that he would have to know something. At least that's what I thought.

Deciding I was going to need a bit more time, I called Chepi to see if she would come up with a good excuse to tell the alphas. I knew they would be excited that I had found my mate, but I wanted to get to know him a bit more first. I called her and we came up with a time to be back and a possible excuse if they wanted to know where I was. They usually respected my privacy, but it wouldn't hurt to have a back-up. Also we decided that if I wasn't back by at least 8:30 and she got nervous, she had permission to let the alpha female know. Now let's just hope this works out correctly.

The day surprisingly went by pretty fast. Granted it was the first day, but I was getting excited to see Synyster, or Sin- haven't decided which I prefer yet, but I liked the dark tone to it. I've always connected easily to darkness. It made me feel at peace and safe. Although I found it to be an interesting mix for my wolf considering our name meant "pure", but who's to say darkness isn't meant to be pure at times? We fear what we cannot see, but what if the things we fear within darkness aren't bad at all? Just simply misunderstood or waiting to be discovered.

I waited outside the school for a bit, but so far there was no sign of Synyster. Just as I was starting to get nervous that maybe he had forgotten about me, I felt strong arms wrap around me. As if it was second-nature I actually leaned into his embrace instead of jumping like I normally would have. I heard a low rumble in his chest and couldn't help but grin.

"Aw how cute, you purr," I said in a playful tone.

He seemed caught off guard by this.

"What?"

"Nothing, just unexpected. I took you as more of an awkward or quiet-type," he said with a slight smirk.

I actually laughed at this. "I guess I tend to come off that way, but nope. Just kind of intense when you have an unknown male come up to you. Also when said male happens to be my mate."

"Ah, good point. Also may I add the fact that it wasn't a purr, it was me growling at you."

"Suuuure, whatever makes you feel more manly. I'm still calling it a purr. It's cute."

I tried to conceal a giggle as he let out a huff.

"So where to?" I asked.

"That's a surprise."

"Uhh-"

"You trust me right?"

"Well I just met you but sure, we'll go with that."

"Good."

With that, he took my hand and walked me to the car.
