Soap and Tooth Brush Method

While not my favourite cleaning method because I'm terrified of getting my ponies wet, cleaning them with soap and a tooth brush is still effective at cleaning any germs that may be living on your pony. Using a new, unused tooth brush, scrub the surface of your pony with dish soap or hand soap. Once your pony is covered in bubbles, gently rinse them under the tap, being sure not to allow the water to get trapped inside the pony. Avoid submerging your pony in water and try them using a clean tea towel. Do not leave them to dry on their own as this can cause mold to grow.

Magic Eraser Method

Ah, the good ol' magic eraser. Probably one of the most reliable tools in my cleaning caddy, not only because it's good for cleaning the kitchen but because it's great for ponies too (please ignore how manky mine is in the above photo, it's still recovering from the last ordeal I put it through. We do love a resilient queen). For the magic eraser method, run the sponge under the tap and squeeze out the excess water. Lightly rub any dirty areas of your pony with the sponge, being sure to not touch any painted areas (eyes, symbol, etc.) as the chemicals in the sponge may take it off.

Acetone Nail Polish Remover Method

If none of the above method's are successful, you may benefit from using acetone, which is more effective for lifting more stubborn stains. It won't work for everything, but it's vey effective. This method will work best for my Desert Rose (as pictured above). It doesn't show up well on camera, but she has many small scratches and marks that the magic eraser failed to remove. To start, use a Q-tip or a small makeup brush to apply the acetone to the blemishes. As with the magic eraser, acetone should not be used on the paint. Also, be sure to keep the bottle closed when in use to prevent the chemicals from escaping into the air, as this can irritate your lungs.
