Pictured above is a section of my My Little Pony collection, which I display on top of my bookshelf. Yes, I know the poor dears a looking a bit crowded up there, but hey, I'm a poor student who can't afford extra shelves. Throw me a frickin' bone here.
Blister in the Sun
Keep your ponies out of direct sunlight, as this can cause discolouration. It is possible to reverse these effects with the use of hydrogen peroxide and a UV light chamber, however, it's best to prevent these issues before they arise by storing or displaying them away from windows.
Another One Bites the Dust
Display ponies on shelves or display cases to reduce dust. Remember to dust your collection regularly. I recommend buying a cheap makeup brush to reach all the little nooks and crannies. Make sure that this brush is used for any other purposes other than dusting. Occasionally, I also like to take all my ponies of the shelf and give it a good wipe down with a Dettol wipe.
Burning Love
Avoid keeping the ponies in a damp or hot environment, like an attic or basement. extreme conditions and uncontrollable temperatures increases the risk of mold, melting, rust and deterioration.
Free Fallin
If you choose to keep your ponies on a shelf or in a display case, be sure to check that they are stable to prevent accidental falls or damage.
Out of the Wardrobe
Use acid-free containers to protect your ponies from environmental factors if you intend on storing them long-term. I suggest keeping your ponies separate by using small plastic bags. This will stop them from bashing against each other.
I Will Always Love You
Consider a special place to keep your special ponies. Keep customs and ponies of higher sentimental value in particular place if you so choose to help preserve them. Minty is my favourite pony as A Very Minty Christmas has been my favourite holiday film since I was small and my Minty has a pair of socks on that were sewn by my grandmother. For these reasons, I like to keep her in a particular spot in my cupboard so she isn't caught up in the mess that is my pony shelf.
