I barely even had time to react as the group charged us. It all happened so fast. Ignoring the pain that screamed at my body, I pulled my body up on the chains, lifting my feet to the ground. I used the momentum this brought me to swing at one of my oncoming attackers. She fell back, only to be trampled by the rest of the group. I ducked as one of Monroe's super humans threw a punch my way. His hand collided with the column I was connected to. My eyes widened as I noticed the crack left behind his fist.
That could have been my face.
The crowd cheered as they witnessed the fight. This only fueled my desire to survive, I would not let them see me die. I ducked again as another attacker swung at me, then threw my leg up kicking her in the chest causing her to stumble back. I had to get out of these chains. I was playing a scary game of cat and mouse right now. I needed to get on the offense. Another attacker ran at me, a metal sword glinting in his hand. He let out a yell as he swung his sword forcefully.
I could work with that.
I jumped back, the sword just barely missing my abdomen. I felt a whoosh of air as it flew over top of me. Giving me little time to recover, the same attacker swung his sword over the top of his head, gathering momentum. I eyed him adjusting my stance. I was ready for him. This time when he ran at me, his sword blaring, dodging his attack, I positioned my chained hands above my head. I tried to spread them out as much as possible. I held my breath hoping, praying that my plan would work. If it didn't, well this might be over soon.
His sword clanged against my chains. But they held strong. Before the attacker reacted, I threw my leg up forcefully, kicking him back. He glared at me, annoyed that I had gotten hit in. My eyes glanced up at my chains. While they were still connected around my wrists, I noticed a small dent in the bind that kept them together. I smiled, one more hit and I would be free.
Unfortunately, in the time that it took me to look at my chains, I was met with a blow to the face, this time from a different attacker. My head snapped back from the strength as blood flew from my mouth showering the ground beneath me.
Using my chains, I quickly pulled my feet from the ground. In one fluid motion I wrapped my legs around her neck, perching myself neatly on her shoulders. Her hands clawed at my legs as they tightened around her neck. My hands gripped around my chains as she thrashed around, trying anything to get me off her. Her eyes bulged as she struggled for air, her nails digging into my thighs. She grunted beneath me, her eyes meeting mine. And when they did, I didn't see anything. They were empty pits of nothing. No life, no emotion, nothing.
For a split second, I felt sorry for her. In this moment, she had no control over her movements or what she was doing. No one should have to live like that. With one final squeeze of my thighs, I felt the release of her hands as she went limp. Her body fell to the ground as I placed my feet back on the ground.
I didn't even have time to process what I did as my friend with the sword ran at me again. His eyes were fierce with only one goal in mind, blood. My blood. I cried out in pain as his sword swiftly sliced across my thigh. I had to keep moving, I couldn't acknowledge the pain right now. The audience cheered. Though I'm not sure if it's because of something I did or because of Banks and Marley. My attacker swung his sword above his head, and as he brought it down, I took a step back allowing his sword to collide with my chains once more.
Immediately, I felt the release of my chains as my arms dropped to my sides. His eyes widened in horror as he realized what he did. I smirked.
Game on.
I ran at the superhuman, my fists clenched. As he took a step to attack me, I planted my foot swiftly propelling myself beneath his legs. Now standing behind him, I didn't waste any time. I wrapped one hand around his chin, the other around his forehead. Without giving it a second thought, I twisted. My eyes closed as I felt his neck snap, then he fell to the ground lifeless. I didn't want to do that, but what choice did I have. In this moment, it was kill or be killed. These superhumans were out for blood. I had to defend myself.
