|Jisoo|
You know what I hate?
Shopping.
I hate shopping.
I can't stand it.
And you know what I got dragged into?
Shopping for wedding clothes.
The mothers slam open the doors to the wedding boutique.
"WE'RE HERE!" They both announce loudly.
I blink and I think I hear Jennie sigh heavily next to me.
Everyone in the store turns to us and I see Jennie trying to cover her face to no avail.
I had flown Jennie's mom from Jeju to Seoul so that we could find wedding dresses. I learnt recently that Jennie's work and actual stay is based in Seoul but when I had first met her, she had flown back to Jeju and was living in a separate rental apartment for a month to tend to some patients she took care of there. But now she's in her permanent residence in Seoul with her dog Kuma so she drove here herself.
We walk behind the moms and immediately get an attending lady.
"What can we get for you?"
Jennie's mom comes forward. "My daughter in law is rich so we would like your most expensive wedding dress."
Jennie smacks her mom's shoulder once the woman turns around.
My mom smiles happily. "Yes buy whatever you want!"
They go off and I grab Jennie's wrist and whisper in her ear. "Please calm your mom down," I beg. "I have money but I still need to live!"
She turns her head to me and pats my arm. "You wanted to marry me so you have to deal with my mom." She grins and pulls her hand away.
"Jennie! That's not what I—Jennie!" I run after her because she's walking away way too quickly.
I grab her elbow and turn her to me. She crashes into my body and stares up at me. My brain goes dead at having her so close. She wore just jeans and a T-shirt with her hair down but she still looks amazing. I give a small smile down at her.
"AWWWWW!" We hear a chorus from our mothers.
Jennie closes her eyes in irritation. "Unbelievable," she mutters under her breath. She slides her arm out of my grip and looks at me again.
"I'll tell her not to make a dent in your bank account. Happy?" Then she turns from me and goes to pull her mom to the wedding dress section.
I shake my head and go to my mom who stares at me thoughtfully from the opposite side of a rack of suits.
"Are you okay?" She asks.
I look at her. "I'm fine."
I look back at the suits and see that they're really good quality and not cheap at all. What the hell is this boutique?
"Jisoo?" She asks again.
I look at her and she reaches over the rack and holds my hands. I sigh and say, "Mom why are you—-"
"I see the way you look at her you know?" She explains and lowers her voice. "I get that it's arranged but I thought there would be some....some feelings mutual between you both. It looks like just you have feelings and I'm worried she might break your heart."
I smile and squeeze her hands. "I promise that you have nothing to worry about. It's just....yeah..... I like her. I think she's...she's pretty. She's cute. She's opinionated. And even if she does break my heart" I swallow. "It's not going to affect me. I'm Jisoo. I'm....I'm okay.
I'll be okay."
