this story contains mentions of religion, such as Christianity.
And a possible TW: homophobia.

It was one of the many days you went to church, a Wednesday. Your parents were very strict about going to church. That's why they made you go three days a week, Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday. You disliked it a bit. But you decided to live with it.
As you headed out to your parent's car, you popped in your airpods and went to Spotify on your phone. You went to your playlist and played one of your favorite songs by your girlfriend, Melanie, which was VOID.
You got in the car and rested your head back against the seat, sighing softly. When suddenly, you felt someone patting your leg. You flinched and looked up, taking out both of your airpods. Your mother was there, staring at you. "What are you listening to?" She asked you, a stern look on her face. You replied truthfully. "Uhm..this girl named Melanie Martinez. I really like her music."
Your mother shook her head and grabbed your earbuds, placing them in her ears and listening to the song that was playing. She grimaced and took the earbuds out, throwing them onto your lap. "You cannot listen to her anymore." Your mother said, her hands grasping the wheel. Your dad turned back to you and pointed a finger in your face. "What did I tell you about listening to stuff like that?...There could be so much stuff behind it that you have no idea about." He explained. This made you angry. Your parents didn't know Melanie like you did. She wasn't a bad person at all and it wasn't any of their business what her music's about.

When you all arrived at the church, you left your phone and earbuds in the car and walked inside. You guys spent a few hours in there, the same as always. And then you all left.

On the drive home, you fiddled with your fingers as you pondered about something. You had been thinking about coming out to your parents as lesbian for a while now. You were just petrified, knowing that they would probably lose it if you even mentioned any other sexuality besides straight in the house. But you had to toughen up, right? You had to learn how to speak up. Say things. So you nodded your head and decided that when you got home, you would tell your parents.

All of you guys walked in the door and your parents went straight to the couch, so you followed along behind them. You stood there.
"Is there something you need to tell us?" Your mother asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Uhm...yeah, there is actually." You murmured, rocking back and forth.
"Well, go on." Your mother said.
You hesitated. And hesitated. And hesitated.
Until you finally spoke.
"I'm...lesbian."

Your mother and father paused, their mouths falling open. You gritted your teeth.
"You're a what now?!.." Your father exclaimed, rising up from the couch. He got up in your face and grabbed the collar of your shirt.
"You little disgrace. That's disgusting. I can't believe you'd dare feel any attraction to your gender. Do you know how disrespectful that is?!" He exclaimed, and your mother rose from the couch.
You gasped, your hands digging in your pockets. As soon as you pulled out your phone your mother grasped it from your hand and threw it on the floor, stepping on it.
"What were you going to do, hm? Record us?! Not happening. Now go to your room. Now!" Your mother yelled, pointing down the hall. You gasped, tears bubbling in your eyes. You ran to your room and slammed the door, falling to the floor.
"What the hell! What the hell what the hell what the hell!" You shrieked, your hands going to your hair and tugging on it.
"You're stupid! Stupid stupid stupid stupid! Just straight up stupid!"
You sobbed, curling up into a ball on your floor and screaming.

Suddenly, you heard a knock on your window. You uncurled from your ball and got up from the floor, taking a step towards it. You were confused. Very confused. You opened the window, and there was Mel. Staring up at you.
"M-Melanie?! What are you doing here? You can't be here my parents will kill you-"
"Shh.." Melanie hushed, climbing into your room and wrapping her arms around you.
You buried your face into her chest and sobbed, deciding to not question her any further and just let it out.
"Oh, baby...it's okay. Shh shh shh. What happened?.." Melanie asked, sitting down on the floor.
You only cried harder at that, and Melanie realized it was not a good question to ask at the certain state you were in, so she just nodded her head and cuddled with you on the floor.

"I love you, babygirl."

I hope you enjoyed :)
