When I woke up the next morning far too aware that it was only Thursday. I wanted to roll over and go back to sleep but I was distracted by the scent of bacon. Slowly getting out of bed and opening the door, I saw Daniel in the kitchen in a crinkled white shirt and trackies. He must have heard the door because he looked in my direction, smiling when his gaze met mine. I smiled back for a second, then recalled I had literally just woken up and probably looked awful. I stumbled back into my room, before the blush reached my face, slamming the door and leaning my back against it. I felt the flush in my cheeks then and smiled to myself.

When I reemerged I smelt coffee infused with the bacon smells that were there before. I could get used to this wake up I thought to myself whilst heading down the wooden stairs. There was something beautiful about the irregular pattern of stylised oak. Daniel was no where to be seen when I reached the kitchen, but there was were two places set on the island  counter top. Purple place mats. One had a green plate with bacon and eggs and a glass of orange juice, the other a white plate, with a butterfly pattern, that had a bacon sandwich and a steamy mug of coffee. I didn't know which one was meant for me so I turned to walk back to the living room. As I did so, there was a friendly morning face in the door. Daniel had the dorkiest looking glasses but they made his eyes stand out more. His mouth said good morning and I smiled in return. He walked past me to the two place settings and pulled his not book out.

"You pick. I wasn't sure what you liked but everyone likes bacon, unless you're a vegetarian, then I can whip you up something else."

I shifted my gaze from the paper, to his dark eyes. I only had to shift my head on an angle and he understood the stupidity of that question given I was hefting down a meat lovers last night. He grinned apologetically and gestured for me to pick. I looked from one meal to the other and decided coffee and a sandwich seemed more appetising. Daniel quickly took the other place and started shovelling his food down. He noticed me watching and grabbed his notepad again. He shoved it across the table and continued eating.

"School, can't be late, eat up, I promise I haven't poisoned you," it read. I rolled my eyes and dug in.
