Saturday came quickly and it was the day I started looking for a roommate, and met the nanny for the first time. I had to consciously remind myself that dad had planned the nanny so who knew what night happen.
At around 1 I had gone through four pages of different roommate options. I had to cross off any with pets, any with food problems (because I eat a lot), any of them who were looking for permanent residence and many other things. In the end I was left with Jace Foldward, Jaydee Ends, Mostyn Linnette, and a person with no name they were just listed Mr and Mrs Howins daughter. Mostyn came first and let's just say he was a little too friendly. He was followed by Jaydee who seemed alright, until she started listing all her phobias. Jace never showed and that left Mr and Mrs Howin. I heard a knock at the wooden door and straightened myself out before going to welcome the guests.
I was greeted with two unfamiliar faces and one very familiar face which made my heart leap and my stomach do backflips. Ivy stood silently by her mothers side and a small smile crept onto her face when her eyes met mine.
--bit later--
"Well Daniel it has been a pleasure meeting you and it appears you would abode would suit our Ivy perfectly. What do you say? Split the rent with her?" Asked Mr Howin very formally. I didn't hesitate to shake his hand and saw them to the door.
Just as I turned to leave, to get ready for Ivy's arrival in the near future, another knock abruptly intervened with my train of thoughts.
"Hello?" I answered, cautiously swinging the door open to face a nice looking girl, probably in her late teens, 19 I'd say.
"Hey is this the residence of Daniel?" She asked curiously, checking a crumpled piece of paper in front of her for the correct name.
"Uhh yes. Can I help?"
"Yeah, I was told there was a nanny position available. Am I right?"
"Umm yes, yes you are. You must be Stella, correct?" I was right to have been expecting a character, given my dad's choices in the past. But at least she was polite.
"Well I'm not Daniel, that's you, so I must be. When can I start?"
"It'll be at least two weeks yet, I have a room mate moving in, but after that you can come in Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays. I think that's right, or whatever dad said. Just two weeks from now, come in on the momday."
"Okay, sweet, see ya then Dan." She said, already walking away. And just as quick as she had arrived, she left.
That was the most awkward, yet friendly, conversations I had ever had with a stranger. I slowly closed the door and went back to sorting out a room for Ivy.
