"Excuse me, umm, hello? Do you know where the..." Daniel pushed his way through the hustle and bustle of students in the endless corridors. He was new at this school and hadn't the slightest idea where to go. Working his way through the crowd he stumbled upon a quieter alleyway. He stood for a moment, catching his breathe, before looking up to notice another figure in the room. She was small and sitting peacefully, facing the other direction.

"Hello?" Said Daniel, cautiously, scared of frightening the girl. But when there was no reply he moved closed and tried again.

"Umm, excuse me?" He repeated, now standing directly behind her. When silence once again filled the space he touched her lightly on the shoulder. She jumped and turned quickly around, quite startled by his touch.

"Did you really not hear me?" Daniel asked, a little hurt. The girl smiled calmly and gestured toward her ears and shook her head slowly.

"Oh I'm so sorry. I didn't realise. I'm new hear and I just wanted to... but you can't hear me. Can you?" She stared at him blankly then gave a confused smile.

"Wait, I have an idea," said Daniel dropping his bag to the floor then bending down to pull out an empty sketch book.

He wrote: 'hi, my name is Daniel and I'm new here.'

The girl smiled and took the book. With her own pen she wrote: 'hey I'm Ivy, sorry I couldn't hear you, I'm deaf, can I help you with something?'

'Uh yeah, I'm looking for room, 2.70. None of the doors are labelled so I'm kinda lost.'
'I have my next class there. Follow me.'

They went out of the small room and walked through the crowd which was dying out. They came to a short cut corridor and started walking down it. They were the only two there. However, they were halfway down the walkway when footsteps approached from behind.
