The next day he met with Oscar at his store again and Oscar looked nervous around him.

"Did you look up my name or something?"

"I-no-I...okay I did"

"And?"

"I don't know how to feel about hanging around with a....." Oscar swallowed loudly.

"Don't worry about it. I wouldn't take it to heart if you decide to not talk to me anymore"

"Dad is waiting upstairs...you know the way right?"

Alek nodded and headed upstairs without looking at Oscar.

He thought he was going to learn cool things but instead, he spent a good 5 hours learning by reading books and lectures that Octavius did.

He had been given a notebook to write down notes and he honestly felt like he was in a college class.

Afterwards, they provided him food and he he headed home.

He took his notebook and he had to memorize some things for tomorrow.

As he walked passed people he saw how many people had shadows but some didn't.

He wondered what they did to not have one.

"Child tonight they will be giving out hot dinners down by the parking lot. Would you come with me?" Martha asked.

"Sure"

That night Martha took her cart and they both slowly walked to the parking lot.

It looked like all the homeless in the area had arrived and made lines.

But he quickly noticed something.

The shadows stayed away from the parking lot. Standing on the other side of the street waiting for their human to leave the line.

He wondered why.

He lined up behind the many homeless people.

People that had scabs and stunk.

Truly the scum of society.

He should have already been graduating his undergrad by now but instead, he was in this sea of filth.

Martha at least made him feel better.

He looked ahead towards the people who were giving out food behind the table.

How could they smile at them? How could they stand there and give out these handouts?

They truly just pity us.

They must not care, ain't no one doing this with a smile on their face. There are homeless, crack addicts and criminals in filth and they are still doing this?

His anger subsided when the smell of hot food hit his nostrils.

Well...he wasn't going to complain. Food is food and he was just happy to receive it.

The line moved forward and now closer to the table he saw something.

A flash of gold.

He rubbed his eyes and looked again.

Many of the people there had this Gold emitting through them. Some had dim gold light others had their whole body covered in this gold light almost like a sphere. Those people looked like they had their lights turning fire around them.
