Since Mr. Owens decided he didn't need to work every day and he could spend more time with Marina things started to look up for Alek.
Nothing made his mood more happy than seeing Marina every morning. Everyday that they would have breakfast with them he could imagine a life where this place once day could be his home.
He kept working with Mr. Owens and getting more money, while spending a bit of time with Marina, while still going to work and learn from Mr. Octo.
He gained popularity with the customers due to the accurate information he would get from their shadows.
Because he got Mr. Octo more money, Mr. Octo began to give a portion to him. He used that money to start buying things for Martha and Marina. He began to Buy new clothes and fresh food for Martha although she always tried to decline since she wanted Alek to save his money.
In his mind, If he were to combine the money from Mr. Owens and Mr. Octo, He would have reached over one thousand dollars by now and it hadn't been a full month!
Mr. Octavius continued to give him lessons. Showing him rituals and the usage of herbs which were supposed to help him get more spiritually "tuned". He said he had to start doing these things more often to appease his shadow who continued to amp up his annoying and bothersome actions.
But soon he found out that the amount of "rtuals" he did, couldn't keep up with the amount of graphic nightmares he had every night. Some of his sister, some of Marina, and other times loosing everything again.
It's as if over time the "rituals" were not enough.
And slowly his shadow began to attached himself more and more to him to the point that Half of his shadow's body was now attached to him and it looked like Alek had an extra head, arm and leg when he saw himself in the mirror.
Alek realized that the more attached to him the shadow was the more annoying it became.
It would non stop torment him, whispering, putting thoughts in his head and seeing things that others didn't (Not like he doesn't have that problem already) to the point that it was becoming difficult to talk to Martha and other normal people.
Another problem was that his shadow no longer detached himself from him to get away from Mr. Owens light, or enyone's right like when it sed to detached itself when he went volunteering with the christians.
But he wasn't in panic mode yet because Marina's just made everything much better. He was able to tune out the shadow's voice sometimes when he was around her. She became like his battery charge.
Funny enough Mr. Owens felt this new change.
"Is something wrong with you?"
"Huh?"
"I'm not going to repeat my self boy" Mr. Owens demanded.
"I'm good, why?"
"I just feel something about you is off. It's the same feeling I had when I met you but worse....Have you been doing drugs?"
Alek heard its shadow chuckle.
"What?! No! I'm fine Mr. Owens. Now which house are we mowing today?"
Mr. Owens sighed, "That one"
Friday came along and he went to volunteer with Marina again.
His shadow didn't detach himself from him like before. Instead, it kept hissing in pain and trying to make it self smaller when he'd walk around the people with light.
