Y/n awoke with an ache in her head.

Just behind her skull, she could feel an ache, the size of a skittle, and it wouldnt go away.

She squinted all through her drive to school, throwing her hand over her eyes as she got out of her car.

She took a deep breath as she opened the front doors, groaning a bit under the bright fluorescent hallway lights as she walked to her class.

"You okay, Y/n?" Her close friend, Stacee asked, watching as she dropped her bag on the floor, immediately sitting down and laying her head on the desk.

"Migraine." Y/n replied, squeezing her eyes shut.

"Oh." Stacee frowned.
"Wanna skip? We can spend the day at my house?"

Y/n shook her head against the table.

"Not today. Theyre starting that fuckass guiding light program this week. I have to meet with some kid named 'Judd Birch' during study hall."

Staycee snickered a bit.

"Judd Birch? Like THE Judd birch? Y/n he doesn't care about anything, hes not going to show up."

"How do you know?" Y/n asked, sitting up.

"Hes IN this class, and we haven't seen him once this semester."

Y/n sighed dramatically. Had it not been for her appointment with Judd, she would have definitely taken Staycee's offer to skip and smoked a blunt while curled up in bed. She would be incredibly upset if he didn't even show up.

She sat through first period patiently. And through second period her fingers tapped her desk in anticipation. Then once the bell rang, she stood up quietly, flinching at the pressure in her head. She made quick time in getting to the library.

She did a quick scan of the room before sitting down, eyes searching for a tall boy with black and blue hair. He wasn't there yet.

Y/n sighed, sitting down and pulling out her books. The bell had yet to ring, he wasnt late yet, she could just wait for him.

Then the bell rang, and he had not arrived.

Then 10 minutes passed.

Then 20 minutes.

Then 40.

And before she knew it, the period was over and it was time for lunch.

Y/n pinched her fingers against her temples, holding in a loud groan. Maybe he was confused about the meeting time or place.

Quickly she typed up a short email to her counselor, asking her to remind her partner about their arrangements, as well as requesting some way to contact him directly. Then she closed her laptop, packed her things, and left the school through the back door, walking to her car and driving off.

The next day, Y/n's eye twitched a bit at the response email she received from her counselor.

"Good afternoon Ms.L/n,

Ive sent an email to Mr.Birch regarding your mentor arrangement, as well as sent him a marked calendar. Unfortunately I am not allowed to give out his personal contact information. I hope this helps."

Silently she slumped her head down on the keyboard.

"I dont even want to do this shit." She mumbled. Which was true, she didn't want to be a part of the program, but the top 10% were pretty much forced to participate and were expected to get all participants to graduation on schedule. And if course it would so happen she got one of the most behind students in the program AND he didnt want to work.

Yet tried and true, that afternoon she found herself in the library again, tapping her finger against the table while watching the clock.

It was 30 minutes after their scheduled time to meet that y/n decided to go home. She was starting to realize how much of a waste of her time this was.

On Thursday, Y/n waited patiently in the library once again. This time she spent her time looking through documents and turn in from her first period class. She successfully found Judd's email and decided to email him herself. She didn't expect an answer, and she didn't receive one.

By friday, Y/n was thoroughly fed up with being stood up, so she decided to choose a different approach. She waited in the library for 30 minutes, just to give Judd a chance to turn up. Once she concluded he wasnt coming, she went to the office.

On this particular friday, Stacee was on office duty.

"You do know I could get in a lot of trouble for this right?" Stacee asked.

"I know, I know, but help me out, please man." Y/n mumbled, looking over the counter at the girl.

Staycee huffed with a small smile, typing into the front desk computer for a few minutes just before the printer sparked to life.

She snatched the paper from the tray, handing it to y/n.

"Hes all yours." She said.

"Yeah...he is." Y/n mumbled, looking over Judd's home address.
"Im gonna pay him a visit."
