Maybe I'll be the sun
Whom People say is loved
But when I shine you turn away
You distract yourself with play
When I am dim you sigh
And you wish I had stayed a little longer
Maybe I'll be the moon
Shining in the dark
Showing you the way without spark
Though you always seem to discourage me
You tell me it's not fair
To use the light I've been given
Maybe I'll be a star
A little ball of light
but never the greatest sight
Never counted but always numbered
You call me names and never wonder
It'll be too late when you notice
My light has left the sky
