" Even if my heart stops beating, you're the only thing I need with me. Even if the Earth starts shaking, you're the only thing worth taking with me. "

Athene sat on the sofa of her shared flat with her boyfriend, Tangerine. He was out on a mission that day, but told her he'd be back at home that evening. Athene watched the TV as she waited patiently for him to come home, looking forward to the story he'd tell about how his day went.

Not too long past six, the front door opened and Athene quickly got up off her sofa, going to the door where Tangerine was, hanging up his trenchcoat on their coatrack. Before he could even say hello, Athene had him pulled into a hug. She worried about him when he went on missions, just like he did for her; they knew they were good at what they did, but that didn't stop either one from worrying about if they'd get a call from the hospital or one would come home with an injury.

"Good day?" Athene asked as she pulled away, taking him by the hand and leading him to their bathroom to clean up with small cuts on his face and knuckles.

"Mhmm," He nodded as he sat on the toilet seat, watching his girlfriend open their post-mission drawer where they kept their first-aid products, "Bunch of twats." He grumbled as she dabbed a wet cloth on his cut on his forehead.

"There's always twats on the missions you go on." Athene giggled. Every time he got home he said the same thing; the people were twats. Tangerine chuckled, putting his hands on her waist as she applied strips to his cut.

"How is Lemon?" She asked.

Tangerine nodded lightly, "He's fine, got out much better than me."

"Well, you've always had a talent for getting into more fights than him." Athene looked at him, referencing to how his bluntness with people gets him into fights and arguments.

"Yeah, but you love me for it." Tangerine grinned.

"That's right I do." Athene said before kissing him.

Tangerine watched Athene silently as she cleaned up his hands, admiring her gentleness as she took care of him. He watched the love that went into her always cleaning him up after every time he came home, wether it was just a single papercut or a wound, she always led him to their bathroom and did her absolute best with him.

He'd never experienced that before. Yes, he had Lemon who he loved very much, but he'd never had anyone else care about him that much before. Maybe it was because he'd never let anyone in like he did with Athene before, or maybe it was because no one had ever loved him like she loved him before.

Without thinking, Tangerine opened his mouth, "Marry me."

Athene froze, she knew she heard him perfectly fine, but she still couldn't believe those words came out of his mouth. She looked at him shocked, not replying. Tangerine silently cursed himself, he had the whole thing planned out, but he screwed it up by blurting it out at the wrong time.

Deciding to just commit to the moment, he dug his hand into his trouser pockets, pulling out a ring with a diamond on it, as he held it up to Athene, holding her hand with his other one, he repeated himself, "Marry me." He looked deep into her eyes.

Athene's face broke out into a hug smile, probably the biggest one she'd ever done before, "Yes." She breathed out.
