Tirzah stared at her laptop screen with sad eyes. It was almost midnight, but her work wasn't done yet. She had to finish the company's financial report before tomorrow morning. She yawned and rubbed her sore eyes.
"Still working, Babe?" her husband Michael's voice came from the bedroom.
"Yes, Hubby. I'll be there in a minute," Tirzah replied.
"Aren't you tired? You've been working from morning until now. Take a break," Michael said.
"No. This is important. I'll rest later," said Tirzah.
Michael sighed and stood up from the bed. He walked to Tirzah's study and sat beside her. He looked at Tirzah's laptop screen full of numbers and graphs.
"You work too hard, Babe. You should prioritize your health too. What's the point of working hard if you're sick?" Michael asked.
"You don't understand, Michael. This is for our future. I want us to have our own house, our car, and our children to go to good schools. I want us to be happy," said Tirzah.
"We're already happy, Babe. We have a comfortable house, even though we rent. We have a motorcycle that can take us everywhere. Our children are healthy and smart, even though their schooling is mediocre. The important thing is that we're together and we love each other. That's the most important thing," Michael said.
Tirzah was silent. She was touched by her husband's words. She realized that she had been pursuing material things too much and had forgotten more valuable things. She closed her laptop and hugged Michael.
"Sorry, Hubby. I was wrong. I'm too tired. I want to rest," Tirzah said.
"Alright, let's go to bed. Tomorrow we'll continue working. I'll help you," said Michael.
"Thank you, Hubby. I love you," said Tirzah.
"I love you too, Babe," Michael replied.
They both walked to the bedroom and slept together. They felt a simple but precious peace and happiness.
