Bethel is a teenage girl living in Jakarta. She dreams of becoming an astronomer because she loves stars and planets. She has always dreamed of seeing the stars in the clear night sky, but she rarely gets the chance because of the air and light pollution in the big city.
One day, she got word that there was a new observatory opening on the outskirts of the city, which offered a beautiful view of the night sky. She was very excited and asked her parents for permission to visit the observatory with her friends. Her parents agreed, provided she returned before 10 pm.
Bethel and her friends took a bus to the observatory. On the way, they talked about the things they wanted to see there, such as shooting stars, star clusters, or even galaxies. They also brought books and sky maps that they borrowed from the school library.
After almost two hours, they arrived at the observatory. They were greeted by a guide who explained the facilities and equipment. They were also allowed to see the giant telescope used to observe celestial objects.
Bethel felt amazed. She couldn't wait to see the stars with her own eyes. She followed the guide to the observation room, where there were many small telescopes provided for visitors. She chose one of the telescopes and pointed it at the sky.
She was surprised and delighted at what she saw. She saw twinkling stars of various colors and sizes. She saw the moon shining with its craters. She saw the rotating planets with their rings. She saw clusters of stars that formed interesting patterns. She saw spiral-shaped galaxies with millions of stars in them.
She felt as if he was in another world, one filled with wonder and mystery. She felt as if she was closer to the stars she loved. She feels happy and peaceful.
She forgets about time and all the problems of the real world. She just wanted to keep looking at the stars and learning more about them. She didn't realize that it was already 9.45 pm, and she had to go back home soon.
Her friends called her and reminded her that they had to leave soon. Bethel felt sad and was reluctant to leave her telescope behind. She thanked the guide and said goodbye to the observatory. She promised herself that she would come back again someday.
On the bus, Bethel looked out the window and searched the sky for stars. She could still see a few stars shining between the clouds. She smiled and whispered, "Thank you, stars. See you again."
