8th Year
As news spread about Draco Malfoy courting Y/N, Hogwarts became a hub of whispers and sidelong glances. In the Great Hall, Y/N couldn't escape the mixture of reactions that followed her every move.
As she settled at the Hufflepuff table, some students shot her disapproving glares while others exchanged envious looks. The buzz of gossip filled the air.
One Gryffindor whispered to her friend, "Can you believe she's actually into a Slytherin? It's like she's asking for trouble."
A Ravenclaw chimed in, "Well, Draco Malfoy is quite charming. I don't blame her for falling for him, but it's still a risky choice."
Y/N overheard these comments but chose to focus on her meal, trying to ignore the judgmental stares. However, an unexpected ally approached - Luna Lovegood from Ravenclaw.
"I think it's lovely that you and Draco found a connection," Luna said dreamily, completely unperturbed by the surrounding gossip. "Love has a way of transcending house boundaries. Don't let the naysayers bother you."
Grateful for Luna's support, Y/N smiled. "Thanks, Luna. It's just strange how much attention it's getting."
Meanwhile, a group of Slytherins huddled together, discussing Draco's unexpected choice.
Pansy Parkinson, Draco's longtime friend, arched an eyebrow. "Draco, courting a Hufflepuff? I never thought I'd see the day."
Draco smirked, "Well, Pansy, life is full of surprises. Y/N is different. She doesn't judge me based on my family's history."
The Slytherins exchanged skeptical glances, but Blaise Zabini added, "If Draco's happy, that's what matters. Plus, it's entertaining to see the reactions."
As Y/N navigated the hallways, she overheard more snippets of conversation.
"I heard Y/N and Draco spent the weekend together."
"Did you see the way Draco looks at her? Like she's the only person in the room."
"She's so lucky. Draco Malfoy is a catch."
Yet, for every positive remark, there was a whisper of doubt. The attention became a constant presence, making Y/N question not only her relationship but also the preconceived notions ingrained in Hogwarts' culture.
Y/N's gaze met Draco's across the Great Hall, and she offered him a warm smile. Draco, in return, grinned, his silver eyes lighting up. The Slytherins around Draco noticed the exchange and wasted no time in teasing him.
Theo Nott nudged Draco, a sly grin on his face. "Looks like our dear Draco is completely smitten. Who would've thought?"
Blaise Zabini chimed in, "I must say, Draco, you've managed to snag the attention of quite a charming Hufflepuff. Color me impressed."
Pansy Parkinson playfully rolled her eyes. "Just don't mess this up, Draco. We put a lot of effort into those burnt cookies for your picnic."
Draco chuckled, recalling the amusing picnic mishap. "I appreciate the help, even if the cookies were a disaster."
Lorenzo, leaning back with a smirk, added, "A Hufflepuff and a Slytherin - quite the unconventional pair. I wonder how long it'll last."
Draco shot a mock glare at his friends. "Have a little faith, will you? Y/N sees past all the Slytherin nonsense."
As the banter continued, Y/N couldn't help but laugh at the happenings among Draco's friends. She joined the Hufflepuff table with a contented heart, knowing that Draco's true self was far more nuanced than the stereotypes suggested.
Later that day, Draco sought her out between classes, a mischievous glint in his eyes. "My friends won't let me hear the end of it, you know. They're convinced you've cast some spell on me."
Y/N chuckled. "Maybe I have. A spell called understanding and acceptance."
Draco grinned, his hand finding hers. "Well, then, I'm under your enchantment."
She's right in front of him.
Drack finds it impossible to avert his eyes, captivated by the radiance of her smile and the enchanting sound of her laughter. It stands out starkly against the world he is accustomed to, yet he can't resist the emotions she stirs within him. He won't fight it; Draco will willingly let her cast her spell on him for as long as she desires.
Y/N shot Draco a playful smile, her eyes reflecting the shared understanding between them. "Looks like your friends are quite the lively bunch."
Draco chuckled, "They are, but they mean well. They helped me realize how important it is to be true to myself."
Y/N nodded, squeezing his hand gently. "I'm glad you have friends who support you."
The brisk wind swept through the corridors, causing Y/N's hair to dance around her face. Draco, walking closely beside her, couldn't resist the urge to gently tuck a strand behind her ear. Their eyes locked, and the world seemed to pause for a moment.
In that hushed corridor, the air crackled with an unspoken tension. Draco's fingers lingered for an extra heartbeat, and Y/N's breath caught in the stillness. The proximity was palpable, and they found themselves lost in a silent conversation, their eyes speaking volumes.
Draco's gaze dipped to Y/N's lips, and hers mirrored the sentiment. The anticipation hung thick in the air as they stole fleeting glances, their desire echoing in the quiet corridor.
Just as the moment reached its zenith, a group of students rounded the corner, interrupting the charged atmosphere. Y/N and Draco instinctively stepped back, the spell broken by the intrusion.
The students chattered loudly, oblivious to the almost-shared kiss that had hung in the air just moments ago. Y/N and Draco exchanged a glance, a mixture of disappointment and amusement playing in their eyes.
Draco smirked, "Seems like Hogwarts has a talent for timing."
Y/N chuckled, "Always keeping us on our toes. We'll have to find a quieter spot next time."
They continued walking, the corridor now filled with the echoes of their unspoken connection, the stolen glances lingering as a promise of moments yet to come.
