Next day everybody goes to temple along with the bride's family. Though my parents didn't want me to come along, the other elders called me to come but I lied saying I'm on my periods and stayed since i didn't want to endure all their angry, shocked and confused gazes.
"Paati neenga pogalaya ? (Didn't you got grandma ?)" I ask as i spot one of the grandma's in the sitting area near hall, sitting on the thinnai (an elevated area for sitting) and crushing beetal nuts with her silver mortar.
"Illa saami (no dear). I saw your state yesterday. You didn't deserve the way you were treated so i stayed back to give you company" she says as I sit down near her leg and place my hand on her leg, laying my head in such a way that I am looking at her.
"Thanks paati" i say smiling.
"Nee onnu kavalapadadha. Ivan kedakkaran, unakku raasa maari oru paiyan varuvan (you don't worry, leave this guy, you will get a boy like a king)" she says feeling my face.
"Ivan dhaan en raasa (he is my king)" I say sadly as my eyes water.
I doze off on her lap. It is when i feel someone lifting me that I open my eyes.
"Maama ?" I ask in a groggy sleepy voice as I look at his emotionless face.
"Hmm" he hums, not responding properly before I feel myself being placed on my bed.
Just as he turns around i hold his hand in mine, stopping him as I sit up.
"Pesalama (can we talk) ?" I ask as he turns around.
"Adhaan ellam pesiyache (We already talked right)" he says, not meeting my eyes.
"Please maama" I beg making him sigh as he sits on the chair near the wall.
I walk to my door and lock it.
"Why are you locking the door ? People will get the wrong idea" he says.
"Just hear me out, I don't want anyone to overhear" I say as I sit down infront of him.
"Maama I never meant to tell you or for you to know about this. I convinced myself that i was never going to marry as soon as your engagement got over. I will never imagine disturbing your life because of my love. Just, can we go back to being normal ?" I ask, pleadingly.
"I don't get any of this. How did you ...?" He asks, as if not having words to ask.
"I don't remember when but for as long as i remember" I sigh.
"Why did you not tell me or anyone else before ?" He asks, frowning .
"Who else could I have told ? You are the only cousin who is nice to me, because you are nice to everyone and that is your character. Or else you would have teased me along with them to. Nobody included me in any games in the childhood due to my weight and it became a habit of excluding me from everything. I am basically alone in this house. The loneliest. The only people I talk to are my parents and the grandparents. My parents only talk to me regarding the stores. I never had anyone or the chance or situation to reveal this until yesterday" I say, looking into his eyes, trying to hold my tears.
"Mayil....i don't know what to say. I've never seen you like that, you have always been a child in my eyes. More like a sister than anything else" he says making my stomach do an unpleasant twist and my throat block.
"I know maama....All I am asking is for us to go back to normal. I will lead my life seeing you being happy. That is enough for me" I say.
"Yen di ipdi dhiyagi maari laam pesara ? (Why are you speaking like a sacrificer?) You are too young for this. Please just accept to marry someone else ?" He asks rubbing his face.
"Ask me anything but that. Marrying someone else and forgetting you are two things I can never do" I say, shaking my head.
He sighs, looking at me with a helpless expression.
"So, can we go back to normal ?" I ask.
"I'll try" he says making me smile as i get up and open the door.
"I came to give you lunch since we ate outside and plan on going to another few temples. I don't want you to feel like you are alone. If at all you have any trouble or want someone to talk with, I am here. Also, I would never tease you if it means you get hurt. Nobody deserves that" he says before exiting the room making my knees weak.
There goes my heart again !
Only this man knows how to make me fall for him again and again and again so fking nonchalantly.
It is this care that he has for everyone that makes him so likeable. Even when all this problem and confusion was going on, the way he thought about me and brought me lunch all alone without sending anyone else shows how much he is worth all my tears.

My cousins, surprisingly started treating me like a princess from the next day. I guess maams taught them a lesson.
Even Karthi apologized sincerely telling he didn't think i would get that hurt and all.
They all took me with them for shopping for maama's reception instead of ditching me with the aunts and uncles like always.
"Happy aaa ?" Maama asks making me turn around as he stands near me nonchalantly.
"Hmm, thanks maams" i say making him hum before he walks away. Nobody noticed and the moment felt private, at least for me.
"Enna Pandii ! Heard you are getting married" says Jay, the only opposition for Cheran maama in the election and our sworn enemy as he looks at maama with a menacing smile.
"I am not in the mood Jay" maama says walking away from the place.
"Ei bayandhutan da ! (He got afraid)" he says laughing with his men.
"Who is afraid !? You know that you won't stand five minutes in the fight if he charges. My maams is an untamable bull !" I say making them stop laughing as everyone looks at me.
"Mayil !" Maama hushes as he stands between me and Jay and his men.
"Solli vei Pandii, potra poren ! (Tell to her Pandii, or else I will kill her one day)" he says glaring behind at me.
"Yaar yaara podra ? I will destroy your whole inheritance if you lay your hands on any of my family members" he threatens making Jay glare before he walks away with his men.
"You should really keep your mouth shut at times like this. It will bring us unwanted trouble" maams says making me shrug.
What big trouble can it bring on us ?
