Sleepless Sleepover

It was Friday and the girls(Chiyo and Quinn) were coming over for a sleepover. Your suspension from school is almost over and you'll return on Monday. You were awfully bored over the week. Your mum has forbade you from leaving home, you had nowhere to go anyway. All you did was bake and cook. You had made plenty of cookies and muffins, which you'll be giving out. You decide to finally tell the girls about what happened with Akashi and how you feel about it. Akashi only contacted you once after that night, he asked about what happened with the police and if you were in trouble. You told him everything went smoothly and that you'd only have to attend a social reformatory program for a month after school. You didn't bother texting him cause he had already told you how he'd be busy with the practice for the inter-high tournament. The tournament starts three weeks from now. You're not sure if you'll make it to all his matches.

You had plenty of time left after attending the reformatory program, it was 4 and they'll be coming by 7 after attending cram school. You don't go to cram school because you prefer studying by yourself. Your semester exams are scheduled for next month, immediately after the preliminary rounds of the inter-high tournament. The exams would be over before they advance to the next round in Tokyo. You were pretty stressed out for Akashi, wondering if he'd be able to manage practice and studies together but then you realized that he's at the top of the class, ranked first. You, on the other hand, weren't bad yourself, you were ranked 8 in class. Despite that, your brother made fun of you about how you couldn't even manage to be in the top 5. Now you were worried that your rank may drop because of the sudden appearance of Sasaki Hitomi. She quite certainly threatened you. So without more delay, you sat down at your desk to study. 

You stayed seated studying until Chiyo and Quinn arrived. The two of them arrived together, they also went to the same cramp school. Quinn was ranked 5 and Chiyo 35 in a batch of 140. They weren't surprised to see your bedroom in a mess with books everywhere. You asked them to sit in the living room while you tidied up your room. 

"Don't you feel like she's hiding something?", Quinn suggested.

"I'm not sure maybe it has something to do with Akashi", Chiyo replied. 

"I heard that", you were standing out in the hallway. The two of them became anxious and started blabbering nonsense in their defence. "You're right I am hiding something". 

You ask the two of them to come upstairs so you can explain everything in private. They didn't say anything further and followed you upstairs. Your room was hushed, you weren't sure where to begin. Thinking about it made your head spin so you went in and yelled as softly as possible, "I have a crush on Akashi!!!"

"We already know that bit", said Quinn.

"What!", you were astonished. 

"Yeah you're kinda easy to read", added Chiyo with a stone face🗿. 

The embarrassment rushed in, you threw a fit and rolled on the floor back and forth with a pillow wrapped around your arms. You expected them to be shocked. You sit up abruptly and say, "But did you know we kissed twice?!"

"what the hell!!!", the two of them shout simultaneously in disbelief, "You're kidding right?"

"Nah uh," you reply proudly, seeing them so confused felt like an achievement. You go on to tell them everything from the beginning, how Akashi kissed you in the classroom one time which was the real reason why y'all had that fight, how he apologized and brought all your groceries for you and how he climbed up to your bedroom and kissed you. 

"so that's the reason why he asked me to switch your phone on", Chiyo remembers. 

"He said what?", you didn't quite understand.

"On Monday when you left school, he told me that your phone was switched off so he asked me to turn it on when I visit you", she explained.

You were blushing again.

"But did he ask you out?", Quinn asked.

"umm...no"

"So he likes you enough to kiss you but not enough to make you his girlfriend?" she concluded.

"When you put it in that way...", Chiyo trails off.

"Why would you say that?" you felt hurt.

"Cause he's leading you on and here you're acting like a fool in love"

"Quinn that's a bit harsh", Chiyo cuts in.

"Well I'm using him too", you get defensive.

"No you're not, I'm with Quinn on this one", Chiyo's words followed a dead silence.

After some reflection you say, "Y'all are right, I don't think he likes me at all, the last time I asked him to name our relationship we ended up not talking for a month I can't bear to go through it again"

"So you're just gonna let him have it his way and not tell him how you feel?"

"It's not like he doesn't know I like him, there is no point in begging if he's just gonna dismiss it and act like nothing happened", you state coldly.

"What'll happen when he starts seeing other girls? What if he's already seeing multiple girls?" Quinn asks.

"He's not!!!", you shout, "I'll kill him, I can't leave him and I can't ask him out so if someone hits on him I'll kill them and if he tries something funny then I'll kill him", you express with a glimmering hysterical smile.

"How about you just ask him out?", Chiyo suggest.

"No can't do that"

"So you'd rather commit homicide than ask a guy out?", Quinn signs with her hand on her head.

"And why not? Cause when a guy asks out a girl then it's like oh how romantic, he's pursuing her, such a brave man, so courageous cheer for him but when a girl asks a boy out she's just pathetic and desperate, a loser, a crazy bitch who won't stop nagging this gorgeous man!!!" you snap, "And he already made it clear he's not looking for a relationship!"

"Okay calm down"

"yeah relax; let's not ruin our sleepover because of some boy"

The three of you did not touch this topic again for the rest of the night. You all watch a scary movie while having cockies and ice cream for midnight snacks and then head to bed past midnight. 

You tried to keep it off your mind cause you couldn't function with him at the back of your head, but your mind seemed to disagree with you. It would just not shut up about him. He has become the object of your great obsession. You went to bed with his memory and laid awake until your eyelids got heavy. In sweet dreams, he lingered like a ghost of your desires. Could there be anything more beautiful than his kisses suffocating you? His hands tracing your skin, bringing back warmth in your marble-like corpse. You longed for his embrace, for him to come back to your arms. You want him more than anything, wishing for him to climb up your window again. But you have decided to never tell him this, you didn't dare to lose him again. If this is all you get a kiss once in a blue moon then that it is. You don't want to burden him with your emotions. His existence and dreams of him were enough to keep you going. But what if he finds someone new? Then what? It's just not fair. It all makes you wanna pull your hair out. No matter what you did it seemed underwhelming. All this made you completely forget about your stalker. You couldn't seem to catch a break.
