TRICK OR TREAT, FREAK

KNOCK! Knock!

Vera quickly finished applying her dark eyeshadow, and closed the palette. She tucked it into a drawer, where it would most likely stay hidden until next halloween.

The teenager wasn't really into makeup. She would apply lip gloss or mascara on days she felt insecure, but she would never go to school with vibrant eyeshadow, and illuminating blush that made a person look like an antique doll.

Her Aunt Jody had bought Vera the eyeshadow palette for her birthday last year and had taught her niece how to use it. It was sweet of her Aunt to show her 'girly' things, seeing as she was the only female figure in Vera's life. So, Vera pretended she enjoyed the gift, but hadn't ever used it again - until now.

The knocking on the door grew louder, telling Vera that she needed to hurry up.

Racing into her brother's room, something Ryker wouldn't have allowed her to do if he was home, she opened his closet for the second time this evening. Vera pulled his black leather jacket off the hanger, which perfectly matched her last-minute rockstar outfit, and ran downstairs to the front door.

"Sorry." Vera apologised, when she opened the door. She felt bad for making the redhead wait for her to answer.

"Vera." Max said sternly. The brunette quickly remembered about their conversation earlier. She really needed to stop apologising.

Trying to correct herself, Vera stuttered out, "Um... I mean... Hi?"

Max giggled at the girl, which caused a pink blush to spread across Vera's face. The brunette was taken aback by how pretty Max's laugh sounded, and even though it was at Vera's foolishness. The girl was just happy that she could make the red head giggle.

To hide her red cheeks, Vera turned around to grab her pumpkin shaped bucket as well as her key.

After Vera had locked the door, and shoved her key into her jean pocket. Max had asked her, "what took you so long to answer?"

"I had to quickly make this costume." Vera answered, walking away from her house, with Max beside her.

The red head's brows knitted together , "didn't you have the whole of October to make a costume?"

"Well, I wasn't going to go trick-or-treating until you asked." Vera explained. Max hummed in response, the corners of her mouth turned up. "So," the brunette carried on, "I had to make this costume using my brother's clothes."
