THRILLER

"AND here we are." Vera announced, opening her front door, "Ignore the mess."
Max glanced around the room, a frown set on her lips, Vera's house was spotless compared to hers.

Two empty couches stood in the centre of the room, both pointing at the small Television which was balanced on a stand. There was a tall stack of unopened envelopes settled on the coffee table, beside it layed a book. The same book Vera was reading when they met. And now beside the book, a bucket of candy was placed down, Max following and placing down hers too along with her mask and plastic knife.

Patterned wallpaper decorated the walls, and over this hung a framed photograph of two small children, goofy grins spread onto their faces. Max couldn't help but smile back at the photo. She rightfully assumed that the two children were Vera and her brother, from when they were younger.

The feeling of someone's soft hand in hers caused Max to turn her attention back to Vera, "let's go to my room." the brunette said.

Quickly, Vera turned her face away from Max as she led her upstairs. There was a warmth to the redhead that was now spreading up her arm, past her heart and reaching her face, causing Vera's cheeks to grow a rosy pink.

Wider and wider Max's smile grew, as she looked down at their interlocked hands, melting into the brunette's delicate touch.

But before Vera could turn into a glowing red mess, and Max became a puddle on the floor, the girls had reached Vera's bedroom.

Reluctantly, Vera let go of Max's hand, and she already missed the warmth the redheads touch gave her. So, the brunette crossed her arms over her torso, trying to recreate this comfort whilst she watched Max wander around her room.

The small posters stuck onto Vera's lilac walls stood beneath Max's gaze as her eyes roamed around the room, in search of something. And when she couldn't find it, Max turned to Vera, a small frown set on her lips, "Where's your book drawer?"

Vera's lips rose up into a smile, causing Max's mouth to do so as well, she didn't think Max was actually interested in her book addiction.

Leading her over to her dresser, Vera reached down and opened the bottom drawer - with some struggle due to it getting stuck. Max's eyes instantly widened, once she peered at the drawer over Vera's shoulder. It was surprising that the two weren't drowning in books for the amount of novels that were flooding out of the dresser.

Reaching into the mountain of books, Vera pulled one out, placing it into her lap as she slowly flicked through the pages. It was one of the first novels that the girl fell in love with, she remembered her Mother reading it to her most nights before the divorce.
