Couple hours have went by since we arrived back at the apartment from Hao's parents. Hao went straight to bed without another word. I just want to give him space and don't want to annoy him with questions.
Gunwook keeps texting me to see how Hao is feeling. I hope he knows non of this is his fault. Gunwook didn't even know Hao back then. I've just told him he's alright and not to worry about it. When Hao is ready to talk he'll talk.
The day went by slowly, it felt like ages since I woke up this morning but it's only the afternoon. Suddenly as I sat on the couch a knock on the door was heard. Weird...I'm not expecting anyone.
I walked over to the door and looked through the peep hole. "Matthew?" I whisper to myself. What's he doing here?
"Hey Bin..how are you?" Matthew asks me after I open the door.
"Matthew? I- I'm fine, what are you doing here?" I ask as I'm really confused.
Matthew takes a moment to answer. "Jiwoon Hyung and I had a fight..again, and you are the only person I know around here..do you think I can stay with you for the night?"
Stay with me..here? "Uh.." what do I say? "Matthew I have to tell you something." He nods his head. "Hao...is here.." his jaw drops.
"Hao? Hao Hyung? Like Zhang Hao from high school who disappeared? What do you mean he's...here?" Matthew asks. "Since when? Why didn't you tell me earlier?"
"I wanted to tell you, I did. But Hao has been through a lot these past five years and I didn't want to stress him out with telling everyone. I wanted to wait until he was comfortable."
"Oh.." Matthew replied. "Can I see him?"
"He might still be resting right now...he needs the rest, maybe some other time.." I say.
"Bin?" I hear Hao quietly say from behind me. "Whose at the door?" He adds.
I smile at him as I turn around to face him. "Your awake? Um..Matthew is here."
"Matthew?" Hao asks.
I nod. "Yeah, uh..he wants to see you, but I didn't know if you would be comfortable with that." I say.
"It's alright." Hao assured me. I nodded in reply and opened the door again to reveal Matthew.
"Hao," Matthew said as he walked into the appointment. "Can I hug you?" He asks. Hao nodded before letting Matthew hug him. It was a soft and gentle hug. "How have you've been?"
"Alright, now." Hao replied. "How have you've been? I heard you got engaged?"
"Yeah, Jiwoong and I have gotten engaged. But I think we aren't going through with the wedding." My jaw drops at Matthew's words.
"What do you mean? I thought you both wanted to marry each other?" I ask.
"I don't know anymore. That's what the fight was about. Our parents arranged for us to get engaged for the money and shit. Which sucks because we've been best friends since middle school. Our relationship with each other is awkward. We thought we liked each other back then, but now I don't feel the love anymore. And I've slowly have lost the love for him too."
"That sucks.." I replied.
"But that doesn't matter right now because Hao is here." Matthew said as he turned towards Hao.
"No please keep venting about your problems, it really helps distract me." Hao said with a smile. It's good to see him smile.
"Really? You want to here about my problems?"
Hao nodded. "I've missed so much these pass years, I want to know what's been going on."
"Pfft well ok then." Matthew said in English then switched back to Korean.
"Let's sit in the living room please my legs hurt." I request as we still stand in the hallway of the door.
After he all sit down Matthew continues to ramble about things that have been going on.
"So anyways Jiwoon and I have both agreed to take a break from each other after both agreeing that we haven't felt love from each other in a while." Matthew said. "But to be honest I feel like he has eyes for someone else, I just don't know who."
"How does that make you feel?" Hao asks.
"I don't know honestly. Maybe it is just best to call off the engagement..." Matthew says. "Anyways what have you been up to?" He asks Hao.
Hao stayed silent. He looked down at the ground then back up at Matthew. "Uh..nothing really..."
"Um anyone hungry? I'm hungry, should we eat out? What does everyone want?" I changed the topic as fast as I could.
"Yeah food sounds good." Hao replies.
"Um I might go talk to Jiwoong about everything, but you guys have fun." Matthew said as he got up. "It was great seeing you Hao, glad to know you are ok. I'll see you guys later."
"Are you sure you don't want to join us?" I ask confused.
"No it's ok I'll see you guys soon." Matthew assured me before saying goodbye again and taking his leave.
"Well that was weird." Hao says.
"Mm...it was...anyways come on let's go eat, I'm hungry." I say to Hao as he nods his head before we take our leave.
