"Mr.Smith, why do we need to be here right now?" Colton asks as the other students file out of the room. He was annoyed at having to waste his oh so precious time on a subject he wasn't planning on passing anyways.
"Because I wanted to talk to you two about tutoring sessions. Kory, you have one of the highest scores in my class, and Colton, you're failing. I think that if I have Kory tutor you, that you might at least get your grade enough to graduate. This class is a required credit and I want to see all my students succeed and not have to retake this class next year." Mr.Smith said as he stares at the two students expectantly.
"You want me, to be tutored by him?" Colton asks as he looks between Mr.Smith and Kory. He doesn't was help from a scrawny little dork who sits in the back of the room sleeping the whole time.
"I do. I think it will be good for not only you. But also for Kory here. It might give you some social confidence if you have to continuously speak to someone outside of the normal people you do." Mr.Smith announces, his words making Kory look at him with a dark glare.
"Why would I want to expand my social confidence?" Kory asks, his voice was soft but there was an underlying tone of anger. Anger that Kory was doing a wonderful job at hiding.
"Kory, you have one friend. And that friend is graduating this year. You're going to be here for two more years, alone, unless you start making more friends. I'm worried about you just like I am of all my other students." Mr.Smith says as he pats Kory on the back. "So what do you say, will you tutor Mr.Stanford over here?"
Kory stands still fit a few seconds before signing and shrugging. "I guess I can make time for him."
"So do I have a choice in this or not?" Colton asks as he watched the exchange go between the teacher and other student. He could clearly see the disdain on Kory's face when he was told he would have to socialize.
"No. Not really. I'm assigning him to you. Kory is going to help get you caught up on all this semesters school work. All of the school work that you decided was not important enough to do." Mr.Smith says smugly. "I want you two to meet up at least two times a week so that you can get caught up Colton."
"Yes sir." The two students say in unison they look at each other. Kory looks at the senior with barely hidden anger, and Colton looks as Kory with pure disgust. Not even trying to hide it.
"Good. Now get to your guys next classes." Mr.Smith says as he gives them both Tardy slip.
Kory almost instantly walks out of the room the second his finger enclose around the pink slip of paper. Next class, English.
