I don't remember the last time I felt this embarrassed.
It's all gone pear-shaped, my birthday.
My wife-to-be may think it was an intentional move to invite her over to my bachelors party naming it as my birthday party to humiliate her in front of everyone, but it wasn't.
My father raised me better than that.
Our differences are ours, I will never allow a third party involvement. She's a woman worthy of respect, all women are.
And that's why I'm meeting her first to assure her that she will be respected in this matrimony, I may not treat her the best but I will never ever compromise with her respect.
Adira Khanna is a woman no one can look down at, Adira Malik shall remain the same.
I keep on waiting for her in the garden of the hotel we're staying at, whereas my motherfucker best mates who are sorely responsible for this mess are chilling nearby.
“Hi, Zoravar.” My to-be-wife's voice makes me shift and turn to her, here she is looking perfectly fine. “Hi.” I manage to greet, unable to meet her eyes.
“Are you free for a walk?” I ask her instantly while trying to read her.
“Sure.”
We step outside the hotel area and Milan's hot summer air hits us. It's a hot summer night, multiple people are roaming around, some with shopping bags in their hands.
“So what do you wanna talk about?” Adira's voice makes me stop for a brief second but I manage to continue walking, “I--”
I don't exactly know how to address this situation.
Shit.
“Zoravar, is everything okay?” She asks me again when I don't finish my sentence, and I feel a faint touch of her fingers on my arm but the next second it's gone for good.
Shit.
I stop and steal a glance of her or her arm, the same fingers which I felt on my arm are hiding behind her back, I raise my gaze to see her face, she meets my eyes, hiding something and searching some.
“I wanna talk about what happened at my place last night.” I begin to address, “Pardon me.”
“--I may not find you very pleasing but disrespecting you is the last thing on my mind.” I add but her expressions don't change the way I thought they would, rather she's smiling a little, maybe.
“I'm not offended, Mr Malik. You're just overthinking.” She says to my surprise, “But if you wanna call off the wedding because you're guilty about last night then I won't stop you.” She adds and I clench my jaw.
