“Do you have a partner, Ma'am?” The henna artist questions suddenly, A partner? I do have a husband.

“Yes, I do.” I answer though I'm unable to understand her curiosity in my personal life, “Why do you ask?” I question her at last.

“For the henna design, It's a thing in here to hide your partner's name in your hand.” She responds while finishing a beautiful design on my hand.

The more involved I get in Jivi's wedding, the more I realize how little I know about South Asian wedding culture.

It's my first time noticing an Indian wedding so closely.

And I do like it very much.

“It's not necessary though, if you don't wish to have his name written, you can skip it.” She rejoins, her questionable gaze set on my eyes.

In the moment, I give in, I agree to have his name written on the palm of my hand. I already have his name written on paper as my lawfully wedded husband, this shall make no difference.

The henna artist writes his name aesthetically, connecting it with the premade designs so no one is able to figure it out on the first glance.

“Some believe that the darker your henna is, the more your man loves you.” She mentions and I can't help but let out a chuckle.

I'm prepared for the lightest shade of henna then because I trust my husband in this case.

He's roaming around with Dhruv at the moment, wearing a red kurta (completely out of theme) thanks to me for ruining his mehndi fit, unintentionally.

Although he doesn't seem much bothered about it, his complaint to my mother states differently.

She's on a mission to ace her new role as his Mum-In-Law, to show her mother how it's done, so of course she'll take his side.

And Zoravar indeed is taking full advantage of that.

I shift my gaze and begin to look around, tonight in no dull night, the joy of the union is clearly visible on faces.

I'll probably sit here for another hour to let the henna on my hands dry and notice more of the people's actions and outfits.

Jivika is still getting her mehndi done, being the bride it will surely take her a while. Jay is constantly around her, passing smiles and providing her whatever she needs or demands.
