"I think I had enough for today." Ace grumbled out besides me, his soft fawn hair were falling in his eyes and his exquisite lips were set in an amused smile.

"No, we just started. I am not letting you give up." I trailed giving him my best melt-them-all-rule-the-world smile.

"You do know that the smile won't work on everyone yeah?" His simper was evident while he made the word 'Venus' on the game board of scrabble. I raised my eyebrows at him at which his smile widened.

It had been a week since my confrontation with Klaus. The reminder again rendered my heart heavy. I was getting used to it though, the dull ache that never appeared to leave, the knot in my heart that seemed to get tighter by each passing day.

The very next day after the dreadful collision, Ace had shown up on my door. I had no idea whatsoever how he got my current abode. I was adamant to make him leave me alone somehow but his obduracy seemed to compete with mine. His daily visits with tubs of ice cream and his acuity had us ended up in my room, playing scrabble.

"This smile has conquered nations and made men fall at my feet." I retorted with a chuckle.

"You've got to work on your comeback skills sunshine." I chucked the nearest cushion at him as his laughter resounded through the room when the door barged open and Rebekah entered in all her blonde glory.

"Knocking is too mainstream right Rebekah?" I asked in a sarcastic manner, standing up from the bed.

She rolled her eyes at me and her amused gaze was swept to Ace. Her countenance became rigid and all the colour drained her face. Recognition flashed through her eyes and slowly her lips quirked up in a smirk. He returned it by a fond smile, his hands behind his head and weight plopped on the headboard of bed. Their expressions left me curious beyond imagination.

"I hope you won't mind if I steal your dear Caroline for a while, now would you?" She said with raised eyebrows.

I hadn't had any encounter with her from a week, I was aiming to meet her but as always, she took matter in her own hands. Barging into my room and "stealing" me away wasn't going to work though. Before he could charm her with his smirks and his ever witty comebacks, I tutted into the conversation.

"I am here Rebekah. Including me in the conversation about me wouldn't hurt I guess." Sarcasm dripped heavily from my words as I stressed on 'me' the second time.

"Hunting down witches would make you crawl out of your pathetic hideaway so get up or I will drag you by your fingernails." She pointed her thumb towards the door with a challenging countenance.

"I am in no mood of listening to any tirade or hunt down witches as you put it so eloquently." I told her in a calm tone.

"Too bad. Get ready or Klaus will see no child."

I was alarmed and shock was evident on my features.

"Or you want exactly that. I wouldn't blame you." She said with am onerous expression. She knew what she was doing. She knew I would never want that.

"Keep your tricks to your pathetic victims Bekah." My posture was rigid and omitting disapproval. I had decided to go with her but she had no right to declare me poignant and cruel.

A soft caress on my shoulder made me turn around. I was faced with a frowning Ace but his lips quirked up in a solacing smile and he mouthed 'Go'. I nodded and he began to tread towards the door but came to a halt in front of Rebekah. He bent his head to level with hers.

"Give a message to your brother from me that blood shed and neck snapping will get him nowhere." A soft smile played on his lips but the menace in his tone was evident. Menace for Klaus or for something he did? I had no idea or the capacity to think past the bewilderment.
