Vilem sliced through a shifter's chest, bringing the man down with just one swat of his hand. The Vampire suddenly heard a crash coming from his partner's room, closely followed by a panther's roar. His heart went up in his throat and dread filled his whole body.

The King hurriedly backtracked to return to the room, but a wall of shifters blocked his path. He immediately understood that it was all part of a plan to separate him from his lover and children. Fury took over his body and he started to massacre the obstacles before him. However, no matter how hard he fought, there were always remplacement to take over the deads' places. He was, after all, all alone against an army of trained warriors.

The Doctors had all been slain.

Another angry roar pierced Vilem's heart and he nearly crumbled down as he heard the babies' cries. The King prayed to every god that he knew of that his family would stay safe until he reached the room. He wasn't far, only a few more minutes, and he could finally defend his treasures.

With one last slash of his claws, Vilem reached the closed door, throwing it open with a loud bang.

He froze, not expecting the sight that greeted him.

Vilem didn't even glance in the corpses' direction, his vision focused on the panther laying on the bed, covered in blood. The King stumbled forward as he walked toward the bed, hoping with all his heart that he would see Mika's chest go up and down.

The animal's fur was ruffled, looking like it had been hit repeatedly in the same places, and there were cuts with broken glass in it all over his back. There was a worrying gash on its eyebrow, from which blood flowed down. It was evident that if the hit had been slightly lower, the panther would have lost his eye.

"M-Mika? Love? Please, answer me..." Vilem's voice cracked as he didn't see his lover breathe. He didn't cry often, but now, he could feel his lower lips become wobbly and the pressure building up behind his dried eyes. Mika was laying down just beside the babies, which were sleeping peacefully like nothing had happened. At least, Vilem couldn't smell any of their blood, nor see injuries on their soft skin. It reassured him greatly.

But he didn't want Mika to have sacrificed himself.

With shaky fingers, Vilem gently stroked the panther, trying to wake him up.

"S-stop scaring me like that, L-Love." Vilem tried to hold back his sobs, but he couldn't contain them any longer as he broke down beside the bed, falling half on the shifter's body and half on the bed. He buried his face in the soft fur, not caring if his tears were wetting it or if Mika's blood was getting on his clothes.

Nothing mattered anymore.

Suddenly, Vilem stopped crying all together, holding even his breath. He carefully put his ear on Mika's chest, staying still like a statue. He listened closely, as he thought he had heard a faint thump. His guest was proven true as he heard another thump, then another.

Mika's heart was still pumping, if only weakly. Looking meticulously at the panther, its chest was slightly moving up and down, too faint to be seen when standing far. Vilem's vigor was instantly recovered, and he dialed a number he now knew by heart.

Charlie answered in a matter of seconds, looking anxious. He knew that Mika had given birth just recently and was still at the hospital. No visitors were allowed in the VIP section, so he had yet to visit, but Vilem calling him only meant that something was wrong. Charlie put the Vampire on speaker mode to let Damian, Vilem's close subordinate, hear the discussion.

The King briefed the Doctor on the situation and Charlie hurried to get out of bed and put on his clothes. Damian did the same, helping Charlie gather his emergency kit after they were both dressed. Charlie softly hissed at the strain he felt in his back as he bent over to retrieve his boxers laying on the floor.

The Doctor glared at Damian as he heard the guard snicker.

The two hurried to the hospital, not even passing by the front door as they spotted a broken window at the top floor. Damian swooped Charlie into his arms and used his vampiric abilities to jump from building to building until he could enter by the broken window. Damion went on defensive mode, surveying the area, while Charlie hurried to Mika's side, quickly making note of what could be wrong.

"I'm sorry, I will check the babies later. Mika is in urgent need of blood and I fear that he has internal bleeding. I need to bring him to the operation room right now, and I need colleagues." The Doctor said, and Vilem nodded, knowing that Mika's situation was more urgent than the babies. The two Vampires took the kids out of the bed and put them in their cribs, entrusting Damian with them. Then, they rolled the bed to the elevator and down to the emergency room.

Charlie at least knew a good amount of Doctors working in this hospital, so he shouted for the ones he thrusted with a shifter to come quickly and screamed that it was a code blue. The team entered the emergency block all together, leaving Vilem in the waiting room as the King couldn't come inside, nor near it like the other families.

With the amount of blood that Mika was losing, Vilem could very well go insane with bloodthirst and maybe attack the injured man. Being near the emergency block could be dangerous for Mika, the doctors and even the visitors. Vilem could also consider it a threat to Mika's life and attack anyone coming too close to the shifter or touching him, so it was for the best that he didn't see him.

The King cursed, hating his abilities more than ever.

He also hated his position to the bone, as it had led to the attack on his family, and could potentially cost him his most beloved treasure.

The light to indict an operation in progress burnt red holes into Vilem's pupils as he stared at it for an unknown amount of time across the hall. His feet impatient taped the floor, disturbing the people around him, but no one dared to ask him to stop. The King was already intimidating as he was, but now, he was covered in blood, both from Mika and from his dead assaillants. His clothes were torn apart, his normally perfectly styled hair was looking like a bird's nest and his pupils were blown wide, a panicked expression stuck on his face.

After who knows how long, the light went out.

Hey dear readers, let me just say : hehehe
