Chapter 51

Vilem checked one last time that the babies' room was ready and perfect before allowing Mika into the penthouse. The panther huffed in fake annoyance as he bypassed the Vampire, taking with him Noah in his baby transporter and leaving the other two kids to his lover. The King shook his head in amusement before coming back in with William and Lila.

Despite knowing that the children would sleep in the same room as them for the first six months, in a baby bassinet, Mika still headed toward their nursery. He wanted to see the result which he had been looking for.

His breath stopped as he stepped in the bedroom, his eyes taking in every single detail from the baby blue walls covered with light brown teddy bear patterns, to the three light cream cribs standing against the front wall. The light coming from the giant window at the cribs' right casted a soft glow in the room as near transparent white curtains fluttered in the wind created by opening the door. The floor was covered by a soft rug which silenced the sound of footsteps. There was a walk-in with everything babies would need, a dressing table and a changing table. A corner of the room was even filled with plushies and toys.

"Don't cry, Kitten. I love you and those little goblins too." Vilem said as he embraced Mika, wiping tears that the panther didn't even know he was shedding. He gently kissed the shifter's temple, before smiling down at their triplets who were sleeping. Before Mika could gather his emotion and compose himself, he felt Vilem's hug stop. He opened his eyes, not realizing that he had closed them, and his heart jumped in his ribcage.

Vilem was standing on one knee before him.

"My dear Kitten, I wouldn't be able to live without you anymore. You are the light in my dark world, the warmth to my frozen heart, my lover and my children's father. Would you do me the honor of marrying me, Mika?" Vilem asked while taking out a small box. As he opened it, a beautiful man's ring came into light. It was a hypnotizing black with gold lines carved alongside. Intricate turquoise lines runned around it, going perfectly with Mika's eyes.

"V-Vilem... I do!" Mika stuttered out, his excitement having trouble staying still inside his body. Big crocodile tears dripped down his upcurved eyes while he tried to stop his hands from shaking. Vilem chuckled at his lover's, fiance's, antics.

He got up from the ground and gently took out the ring from its case.

"I made it as strong as possible, so it won't break even while fighting. I hope you like it." Vilem explained as he took Mika's hand to place the ring. The King took his time so that the shifter would be able to see the inscription inside of the ring.

"My lovely Kitten... You are such a sweet husband, Vilem." Mika read out loud the sentence carved, before standing on his tiptoes to tenderly kiss Vilem's lips. The Vampire chuckled in the kiss, making the panther tilt his head curiously.

"You read my mind, Kitten." Mika only became even more perplexed at Vilem's words. The King took out another box from his pants and opened it to reveal the same ring as Mika, but with scarlet lines instead of turquoise ones. With a flick of his finger, the panther could see the inscription inside of it.

"The sweetest Sugar..." The shifter read and chuckled, understanding now why Vilem had said those words. Mika took the ring and held out his hand for Vilem to place his own on it. The Vampire executed and the shifter put the ring on his finger.

With a goofy smile, the King took out his phone. Mika understood his objective and lined his hand with Vilem's, making sure that the two rings were perfectly aligned. Vilem took plenty of pictures until his heart was satisfied.

"Do you mind if I make a post?"Vilem asked, wanting to make sure that the shifter was fine with it. Mika nodded, not seeing why they should stop themselves from being happy and expressing their joy to the whole world.

The King also took this chance to take plenty of pictures of their triplets to boast about his children too. He thought of blurring their faces, but then thought otherwise. If he couldn't even protect his kids as the King, he wouldn't deserve to be called a father. His little family won't ever need to hide themselves again and live in fear.

Anyways, soon, Mika would take over his father's throne and everyone would know about their alliance. It was better to warn them first and see the public's reaction. He also wanted to probe around his surroundings and see who he should invite to his wedding and who he should ban.

He also chose one of the most beautiful pictures he had of Mika and added it to his publication after asking the shifter's opinion. He wanted everyone to know that this wonderful man was his, and that he had given him three perfect children.

After writing a few words to declare his love to his family, Vilem published the post on his official profile. He also contacted his public relation team and asked them to promote it in a positive light. Of course, such big news wouldn't even need to be promoted, but Vilem wanted to make sure that Mika wouldn't see insults in the comments or on the web. Still, Vilem would have never thought that such precautions weren't even needed.

As soon as people received news of the Vampire King proposing to the Beasts' King's son, a huge clamor was heard all around the world. Mika's identity wasn't hard to guess, along with the whole story behind his disappearance nearly a year ago. Quickly, people dug around Mika's past, testimonies of the treatment he received coming to light now that people felt braver. Instead of bashing the couple, hatred toward Zain, Mika's father, grew at a fast rate. The fresh alliance that this marriage brought was a new wind highly sought after for a long time. People were tired of the fight between Vampires and Shifters, things were bound to change for the better now, and many were looking forward to it.

That night, a new headline made it in first place and shook everyone to the core.
