The Vampire raised an eyebrow, not expecting the letter he received a few seconds ago. His long fingers with well-defined joins passed in his short white hair, making sure every strand was in its place. The Vampire King opened the letter, before carefully unfolding his glasses and putting them on his straight nose's bridge.

The man was pleased to read that his potential soulmate was in favor of becoming Blood Partner with him and the fact that he wanted to meet him only made him happier. The Vampire King had felt it was strange that he was able to consume the young man's blood, but after doing research, he found that he could be his soulmate. Sometimes, two people were born with extremely high compatibility, making it so they craved each other. For vampires, it normally meant that they would become addicted to their partner's blood.

In his case, his psychological repulse toward blood was overcome by his desire for his soulmate's one. However, it was important to take into consideration that the compatibility was only sexual. Contrary to the fairy tales stories told about werewolves' mates and the like, soulmates were not necessarily meant to be perfect for each other and would fall in love at first sight. For example, the Vampire King could feel attraction toward the young man's blood and body, but find his personality unpleasant. With time, he would grow to dislike his body too, and would only crave his blood.

The white-haired man had taken it into consideration when making his offer to the donor. If their personalities were incompatible and such a day really came, the donor would still provide his blood, but they wouldn't need to see each other. They could even dissolve the ritual if worst comes to worst.

As the Vampire King could see it, it was a win-win situation.

The man got up after reading the letter, putting on his coat by making it float on his shoulders with a quick move of his hands. The black fabric contrasted his pale skin, while his suit, made with dark red vertical lines on black ones, outlined his body, making his bloody eyes appear terrifying.

He walked toward the door, leaving his office right in the middle of work. The doors opened automatically, his hands in his pockets in a leisurely way. Black leather shoes pointed their nose outside and a man hurriedly went on his knees. The King stopped, and looked down from above at his servant who quickly took out a paper to wipe the non-existent dust on the Vampire's shoes. After feeling satisfied with the shiny leather, the servant stayed put with his bottom on his heels, both knees still on the ground. His back was straight, and his hands were on his tights, but his eyes never left the ground.

The Vampire King's eyes didn't linger on the man and instead continued his way to the elevator. Another servant stood by the door, calling the elevator when the King was close enough and giving a courtesy when the ding was heard. He entered the lift, not even glancing at the man still bowing and voiced the number one.

The elevator automatically closed its door and began its way down from the fiftieth floor.

The leather shoes slowly tapped on the floor.

Bloody eyes looked in the mirror and tried to find any flaws in their perfect body. Raking his eyes up and down, the Vampire King exhaled a nearly silent breath, trying to calm down. Shaky fingers left their hiding place to arrange once again the man's neat hair style, before going back to the pocket.

The man was anxious.

It was a foreign feeling. The thought of meeting his soulmate, the one with perfect compatibility with him, was nerve wracking. He hoped his guess was true. He hoped the two of them would fit perfectly, body and soul. He hoped the man wouldn't fear him. He hoped they would live a long and happy life together.

He hoped for many things, but hope stayed hope. Life had taught him that reality was always disappointing. So his mind started to think of the many possibilities, always in the future, making up many scenarios, worst after worst.

He wasn't good at waiting.

When the elevator finally interrupted his thoughts, the Vampire King had come to consider a meeting in which everything went badly. If the young man was disgusted by him, by his ways of handling things, then he would have to exert some force.

He could chain the man to his bed for the rest of his life.

Everything could also go perfectly, but the Vampire King was always one prone to pessimism. His ruthless nature didn't help, and even if he would hate to take the man's freedom, he knew he wouldn't be able to live his life knowing his soulmate was somewhere out there. It was so rare in someone's life to meet their soulmate, he wouldn't give up on him.

The lobby became silent as the president went out, not even breathing could be heard. It was, after all, a vampires' company, rare were those that still chose to fake breathing. Wide eyes followed the imposing man, his stature straight, his sexual orientation not so.

Both men and women knew that genders were useless when it came to vampires. Blood was blood. The Vampire King, however, was never seen sleeping with another person, so they weren't sure about him, but all genders wanted to sleep with him, that was a sure fact.

Like Moise, the crowd parted and let the tall man reach the company's doors. They opened by themselves and the Vampire King went toward his limousine. The motor was already hot and the driver was ready to step on the pedal.

Entering the vehicle, the man named the address given in the letter, before letting his head fall back on the head-rest, closing his eyes.

A few minutes later, the Vampire King found himself before the apartment's door. The building in which it was located was kind of classy, but it was nothing compared to his penthouse. The Vampire licked his lips, already smelling the delicious aroma of his soulmate's blood escaping from behind the door. His blood, frozen since his birth, started to boil at the thought of sinking his fangs in the man's neck, feeling the warm skin of his naked body on his own cold one, their limbs intertwined, their bodies stuck together. He could nearly see the man, pacing back and forth in the living room, or what he thought was the living room. He had to reel in his predator instincts that wanted to barge in and pin the prey's anxious body to the floor.

He frowned, not expecting the smell of another Vampire in the same room as his man. The King grinded his molars, praying that they weren't a couple. It would complicate things. His enlarged pupils slowly went back to normal, his excitement having been calmed down by the thought of the man already being taken.

He hoped for another thing, as if his prayers were ever heard, before pressing the doorbell.

Hey dear readers, we get to see the Vampire King's inner thoughts!

And for those wondering, yes it's normal that his name is still not mentioned. It's kind of a big deal to know a King's name. (and this small author is feeling conflicted between two names)
