I'll be your man by BTOB~
Charlie got out of the emergency block, heading straight toward the pacing Vampire. Seeing the Doctor coming his way, Vilem abruptly stopped. He twisted his fingers together, just like it was his heart currently being strangled. When he had to make important decisions regarding the Vampires' future, even when he executed his own people for traison, never had he felt this nervous.
The thought of losing Mika was like a never ending abyss sucking him in. He could hardly see the light from above.
"My King, Mika is safe. A little bruised, but he will survive." Charlie said as he reached the Vampire's side. The tired smile on his face could speak by itself of the lengths they had to go to so that the panther would get better, but the relief Vilem could see in the Doctor's eyes proved that everything would be fine now.
Charlie reached out when the King swayed on his feet, the strength in his legs having left him.
"Would you like to see him or for me to explain his condition in detail first?" The Doctor asked, even though he knew the answer. Vilem seemed to have found some hidden energy as he was suddenly on his feet, bypassing the Doctor without a glance, and heading toward where they had come from and where he thought Mika was.
"Erm, it's actually in the opposite direction." The Doctor said, drawing Vilem away from where he had gone. The Vampire walked like a robot, limbs uncoordinated as he tried to hide his face. Charlie coughed to hide his smirk, liking such an awkward side of his King.
Without Mika, Vilem would never have acted this... human.
The Vampire had always been an existence near god for all of his people. He had never had any flaws, and also didn't tolerate any from his subordinates. Therefore, his people were always pressured and the retention rate was low for his employees. Few were those that could endure Vilem before Mika came.
Charlie was glad that he allowed the two lovebirds to meet.
It was the best outcome for both of them.
The Doctor stopped before room seven, and Vilem raised an eyebrow as he saw an unknown name on the door, meaning that it wasn't his lover's room. Charlie simply answered by raising his finger to his lips in a silent gesture and giving the King a wink. Vilem's tired mind understood that it was to avoid the same thing from happening. Mika was now hidden by a fake name, and resided in a normal room, so as to avoid any suspicion. All the doctors were also not informed of the shifter's true identity and only thought he was a normal panther.
Charlie slid the door open and made a gesture for the King to go inside first. Vilem cautiously stepped in, his sight momentarily veiled as the curtains were closed and the lights off. The Vampire blink as he fully stepped in and his pupils adjusted to night vision. His eyes were instantly drawn to the bulge on the bed. He approached and when his sight fell on Mika's face, he rushed to his side.
The panther was peacefully sleeping, a bandage around his forehead, just above his eyebrows. There was also a gauze pad on the injury on his eyebrow that he had received in the fight. Apart from his face, his whole body was buried under blankets, just letting one of his arms outside, the closest to Vilem, so that the drip could be changed easily.
"Hi, Precious." Vilem whispered, caressing and pushing back a soft bang that had fallen on Mika's forehead above the bandage. Charlie refrained from making any remarks as he noted the way the Vampire's voice cracked, and how the King's lower lip was slightly wobbly. He had almost lost his lover, it was normal, even for a King, to get emotional.
"Would you like me to tell you about his condition now? And don't worry, he is under heavy sedation, so he won't be disturbed." Charlie asked after letting Vilem have his moment of peace and quiet with Mika. The Vampire glanced at him, as if he had truly forgotten his presence, and then nodded after thinking about it. He was also curious about the fact that the shifter had been brought in the emergency block in panther's form, but exited in human's one.
"Well, he has a concussion, so he may be nauseous and disoriented when he wakes up. He will also be sensitive to light, which is why they are closed. I recommend that he avoids any physical activities and screen time as much as possible. Shifters are stronger than humans, so he should be fine after a few days, I believe. Other than that, he will have a light scar on his eyebrow for the blow he received, but his eye avoided any damage, fortunately." Charlie started, and had to hold back a flinch as he felt a murderous aura coming off in waves from the King. He could almost see a dark red smoke seeping out of the Vampire's body, but it was surely his imagination.
"He had broken ribs that pierced his lungs, but now they are only bruised and his lungs are just a tad delicate. He may feel strikes of pain if he takes deep breaths or moves his torso too much. His hip was dislocated in the fight, but we put it back in place. He will limp a little, but will recover in no time. No running or jumping until at least two weeks, just to be safe. You are lucky that Mika has strong shifter's blood, or it could have been worse. Anyways, here's the list of medication he will have to take, mostly vitamins because of the birth and then blood loss, and the instructions related. I have to leave now, Damian brought the kids as you can see. I checked and they have no injuries, Mika did a good job, you can be proud of him." Charlie finished in one breath, more than ready to leave this suffocating room. Vilem glanced above the bed as the Doctor pointed there and saw the triplets sleeping peacefully in a crib in the corner of the room, hidden from immediate view.
After giving the Vampire the paper, Charlie tried to escape, but suddenly felt cold chills creeping up his spine as he approached the door. The Doctor looked back to see Vilem looking at him with eyes that ordered him to stay put. Charlie mentally let out a desperate sigh before dragging his feet back.
"Why is he in human form?" Vilem asked, the question having been on his lips for a while. He thought that Charlie would answer it, but it seemed like not.
"Oh, sorry, I thought you knew." Charlie said, making a vein thicken on Vilem's jaw. Still, the Vampire continued, unaware that he had just entered the King's dark list. He hated not knowing something about his lover, even more if it was about his health.
"We can't operate on animals, so we use a drug that forces the shifting. Don't worry, it's completely harmless. It may make the shifter feel slightly confused when he wakes up, but as Mika will already be disoriented because of the concussion, it was not worth mentioning. Now, bye bye!" Charlie said and hurried out of the room before the Vampire could hold him back. His back was covered in cold sweat and his hands were shaking like crazy. He seriously felt like he was going to die a painful death in there.
Vilem stayed behind, his eyes staring holes into Mika's face as he hovered above the bed.
He didn't dare leave the shifter's side, even just to bring a chair to sit down.
Never again.
