Back facing the gates as this morning, I subconsciously humor my odds. I would have never thought today would end this way.
I, at the present time, have come to trust that things are prone to change no matter the path you draw. I have become fond of this resolution, of returning to the palace with Eric. Solace surrounds me now that Eric and I have let each of our guard down.

"Tonight was brilliant," Eric admits as he goes up the steps
"It was something..." I say as I follow him up. Still being wet from previous intended incidents, Eric and I have made quite the mess on the palace's floors. I reckon the tiles will dry up quickly with this summer weather.

We only had a few more steps left before Grimsby and Lashanda approached us with haste.
"Sire, the queen wishes to speak to you in private" Grimsby announced and looked over to me. What a way to make it clear...Lashanda followed his demeanor "Ma'am, and I shall walk you back to the chamber".
Eric and I were being separated from each other for the first time tonight, and my stomach could not fathom that. Instead of walking away with Lashanda, I look over at Eric hesitantly. I did not want to leave the only person I can partly depend on in this mess of mine.
"Good night Azure." Eric bids me softly, and he studies me with his eyes like a painting carried away, forever to be removed into an archive.
I move up the stairs and keep to Lashanda's lead.

As we make it to the second floor, Lashanda smiles "Well ma'am your face seems to radiate in color"
"Whatever do you mean Lashanda?" I walk closer to her
"You are blushing ma'am" She makes herself clear, and my hand subconsciously moves over to touch my cheeks.

The path we are taking is not the same one to my wing. I know this because we passed it a while ago. We surprisingly made it down to the servants quarters.

"Lashanda this place is very far from my wing, why are we here?"
"Well Ma'am you shall stay here from now on" She tells me in a saddened tone. I can tell Lashanda does not want this for me.
"Under what arrangement?" I ask her, desperately hoping she would elaborate.
"The queen's orders ma'am. The queen requested that you stay down here, with us. She thinks the prince requires his own space." She tells me as she opens the door to a room with four separate beds, two of them already occupied.
"You take that one" Lashanda points to the one opposite to what I presume is her bed.
The questions I have in my mind are innumerable. I try to word them out for Lashanda, but she looks at me and discloses "It has been a long day, though tomorrow I shall make it as clear for you as the morning sun".
I certainly hope she does.

"Morning Ma'am!" Lashanda pulls the covers from me and my body coils in discomfort

"Morning Ma'am!" Lashanda pulls the covers from me and my body coils in discomfort. "I allowed you to sleep in...just for today" She says as she pulls me up from bed. How can the events of two separate days be so close yet so different. I rub my eyes to attain a better vision of the room I occupy, three of the beds were unoccupied and neat except for my occupied and messy bed.

"I reckon since you are down here you must come through as one of us" Lashanda pulls a uniform dress and apron out of the wooden armoire separating two beds from one another. "What no choices today?" I ask in mock
"Funny girl, you" Lashanda laughs "Now, get dressed, get going, and get working because this palace is not going to clean itself!" and with that she was out of the door.
I should get working on what exactly?
