Jackie forced me out of bed so I would come on a run with her. Running has always been her thing, she says it distracts her from everything that is going on. Me on the other hand, let's just say I value my sleep much more than running.
As we were leaving our room, one of Erin's friends, Olivia, snuck out of Cole's room. Jackie and I froze on the spot, unsure of what to think about this weird sight. Neither of us said anything as we watched her scurry down the stairs trying to put her shoes on.
"Go stretch, I'm gonna grab some water!" Jackie headed to the kitchen whilst I followed Olivia outside.
On the porch, Nathan was sat tying his shoe laces. He was dressed appropriately for a run so I sat beside him. "Hey, you run?" He asked once he noticed my presences. "Me? no." I laughed. He looked at me confused, "Jackie likes running and she also likes dragging me along too..." I explained. Almost on cue, Jackie strolled out the door, "Come on Ev, let's go..."
I jumped up, sarcastically rolling my eyes at Nathan. "Hey. can I come too, if you don't mind?" Nathan clambered to his feet beside me. I nodded my head with enthusiasm, him coming along might just liven the mood.
We all started to stretch together, our eyes on Olivia's car as it drove away. Clearing my throat, I asked, "Does Cole often have..." I hesitated, "Friends stay over?" Nathan turned to look at me, sniggering under his breath, "Friends?" he shook his head amusingly, "Sometimes. I guess he doesn't wanna get caught..."
"Why?" Jackie chipped in. Nathan now looked at her, "Because my dad would kill him." He said bluntly. I pulled a disgruntled look, "I get that but I mean why is he such a-" Nathan finished the sentence, "A guy?" I nodded but Jackie stuck her head in between Nathan's and mine, "you're a guy, I don't see you doing that?"
Nathan shook his head unknowingly, "Cole's always gotten away with things other people wouldn't. Especially with girls but it wasn't always this bad." With prompt timing, Cole wondered out the front door with Danny and Alex. "You're all up early!" He said with a big yawn. "You too." I shrugged, unwilling to go into detail. He too replied bluntly as he walked past, "Chores..."
Surprisingly, the run was fun. Nathan being there did lighten the mood and encouraged some brief conversations instead of silence. When we got back, I made sure to shower before anyone else did.
I was glad I did this when I could hear the kerfuffle that took place when Jackie went to shower. They were arguing over their shower rota which made the whole thing quite confusing. I decided to stay out of it by keeping the door shut.
After some time, Jackie suddenly barged through the door, pure shock on her face. She quickly unravelled her hair from this towel she had piled on her head to reveal messy streaks of orange throughout her hair. "What have you done!?" I couldn't hold my laugh in, what was she thinking?

I couldn't tell what was worse, the badly bleached hair or the brown hat Jackie wore to cover it up... "I like the new look you're going for!" I laughed but she did not find it funny. "You are just as bad as the boys." she moaned. I held my hands up in retreat, "I'll tell Katherine later, she will be able to help!"
School flew by and once it was over, Jackie and I took a trip to town. Whilst she bought coffees, I took the designated trip to Katherine's work.
With a few given directions and the trail of dog yaps and cat cries in the wind, I had made it to the vets. I strolled up to the front desk and was met with a man. Without even getting the chance to ask for her, Katherine strolled in with a clipboard in hand.
"Oh- hi what are you doing here?" She asked, I tried to decipher whether her face looked excited or confused to see me. "Oh you know I just came to see you!" I said with no given detail.
