Jake waited for Johnnie's response and gazed at him with his unforgettable eyes

"Well?"

Johnnie sighed and looked away with a slight blush
"Listen, Jake...im just.."

He turns back to Jake and focuses on trying to maintain eye contact
"i like you."

Jake's eyes widened but eventually he started grinning as he started connecting the dots

"So Tara wasn't lying."

Johnnie was confused and raised an eyebrow at Jake
"Huh? About what?"

Jake smiled and shook his head
"About you calling me sexy."

Johnnie turned beet red and glared at Tara, who was now smirking from the same side of the pool that she had been standing at before

Jake reached in the vehicle and gently squeezed Johnnie's left hand in reassurance

"It's okay, Johnnie. I feel the same way." he chuckled a little, "I have no idea how you haven't been picking up the clues that i've been dropping."

Johnnie smiled but was still red out of embarrassment and anxiety

"I seriously didn't." he motioned for Jake to hop in the passenger seat with his hands

Jake arrived on the other side of the car and climbed inside of the passenger seat through the open door

"I mean, I was trying to hold your hand back there, dude."

Johnnie thought back to that specific moment and smiled with an 'ohhh'

"I didn't even realize, man..."

Jake laughed at this and pointed to the top of the another hill that was next to Tara's pool

"Wanna go up there and watch the rest of the sunset? We'll get an AWESOME view."

he said 'awesome' with emphasis and Johnnie laughed
"cute.." he thought

"Yeah, definitely. Cmon."

They got out of the vehicle and made their way to the top of the hill, Tara watching with admiration and a grin.
