nico liked to paint.

something about the monochrome palette comforted him.

it was familiar.

everything around nico were grey.

maybe there were shades of black. perhaps white. but never colour. what was the colour of the sky? the freshly mowed grass? his eyes?

he wondered a lot. he felt sad that he weren't able to see the same as his family, had they all found their soulmate.

but then again, nico supposed it felt nice knowing his soulmate and him shared the same grey world.

——

it was pouring.

nico ran through the streets, holding his blazer above his head, so that it could cover most of him.

darting in between people who had umbrellas, and people who were running like him, nico turned to a quiet corner.

a cafe.

as nico stepped in, he couldn't help but feel relaxed.

the sweet cinnamon smell drifted in the air, the cozy, dim lights basking him in warmth.

nico walked briskly towards the counter, eyeing a cookie. he didn't notice when someone crashed into him.

"oh my gods! i am so sorry! here, i'll help you-" nico had offered a helping hand to the poor stranger who had fallen to ground due to nico's lack of awareness.

then it hit him.

colours rushed into his grey world as he made eye contact with the stranger.

stumbling, nico leaned against a nearby table to steady himself.

he shook his head, trying to grasp the situation at hand.

"are you alright?" the stranger had asked.

"it's you."

——

nico loved to paint.

he loved to look at the colours that had made itself home on his canvas.

he loved that the colours and shapes mixed into a masterpiece.

will.

nico's artworks consisted mainly of will, either that be will doing a mundane task or posing specifically for nico.

he could tell what colour the sky was on a rainy day, he could tell what the colour of the park they often went to, he could tell that will's eyes were a striking shade of blue.

he could see colours.
