will thought his tattoo was a bit ambitious.
a sun and a moon merged? that was so generic. he kinda liked it though.
if he was the sun, was his soulmate the moon?
it didn't help that it was under his pectoral.
he didn't have a problem with it, except that the problem was that the tattoo burned when you were anywhere remotely close to your soulmate. it can only be stopped once both parties have talked.
will could only ever recall once when his tattoo burned.
the library.
—
nico had nothing to do this summer, so why not sign up to be a librarian?
a librarian who did nothing but sit at the desk all day.
he couldn't even shelve any books, knowing that the elderly librarians disliked him, and did not trust him to organise the books.
that left nico with manning the reception.
nico supposed it wasn't too bad. he could read all day.
lately he's really been into astronomy. something about the universe, and the stars, and just how everything had its way out there.
—
it was raining when will stepped out to run an errand.
his roommate, cecil, had been meaning to borrow a cook book, trying to learn how to cook for the two broke college students.
will hadn't mind going out, in fact, he was quite excited, especially since his soulmate might be there.
with an optimistic mind and an even more optimistic spring to his step, he left. he hadn't even made it out the apartment complex when it had started to pour.
determined to not let the wetness drench his bright mood, he continued his journey to the library.
upon sudden entrance, will started to feel a warmth that started from his tattoo, that slowly spread until it burned.
not trying to look like he was in a cardiac arrest in the middle of the library, will made his way to one of the tables in the back.
his breathing evened slightly, as he stared out the window, watching the light rain patter against the window.
he continued to watch the droplets as they raced down the window pane.
suddenly, he felt like his chest was on fire.
struggling to breathe, will clawed at his sweatshirt, until the librarian walked up to him.
"hey uhm, are you okay? are you feeling some kinda of pain on your body? like the burning kind?", the librarian rambled. "do you happen to have a tattoo there? sorry if im asking so many questions but i've been having this burning pain for the past 10 minutes and you were the only person here.", he said scuffing his shoe.
that was a lot for will to take in.
but his breathing eased.
his chest felt light, head clear.
"uhm. i did have that burning pain. do you happen to have a sun and moon tattoo?" will asked with caution.
nico nodded.
will smiled.
"okay. we don't have to become boyfriends yet, we can just be friends, first. if you're fine with that." will suggested. nico agreed.
over time, the two grew closer.
sometimes they would star gaze under the open, night sky.
sometimes they would dance in the rain.
sometimes both.
and will and nico had never been happier.
