"Auntie Lori hurry! We need to be at the front so we can see them!" Cole shouted to Saylor as he used his small size to his advantage and snuck through the crowd using his shoulders to push his way through the sea of legs.

"Cole, please be careful!" Saylor called back to him following him through the large group of people making sure to apologise for the young boys pushing as she did.

Eventually they reached the very front of the crowd and Coles head span in every direction like an owl trying to find two certain people. "Look, there's Topper!" His little finger pointed out to the Thornton boy who was sat ready on his bike. "Quick get out the signs!"

Saylor lifted the back pack from of her shoulders and placed it on the ground. Cole's eager hands immediately unzipping it and pulling out two cardboard signs they had spent the morning decorating. One of them said 'Go Topper' in bright purple ink surrounded by dinosaur stickers and the other said 'Ra Ra for the win' in red pen with flames around the edges.

"Can you take a picture of me so we can show Charlotte?" He questioned smiling up at Saylor his dimples making an appearance.

"Of course buddy, I'm sure she'd love that." She pulled her phone out from her back pocket and opened the camera app. "Say Cheese."

"Cheeeeeeseeeeeeeee." Cole grinned flashing his teeth, a sign in each of his hands, his thumbs in awkward positions as he tried to make a thumbs up whilst holding them straight.

"Perfect." Saylor flipped her phone to show him the photo knowing that if she didn't he would ask anyway.

"Perfect." Cole agreed before turning around as fast as he could, not wanting to miss any more of the action. An excited gasp fell from his lips as a bike pulled up beside Toppers. "That's him! There he is!" He let out a squeal, he couldn't believe how cool this all was. "RA RA!" He yelled for Rafe.

Rafe immediately turned his head after hearing his name being called. He waved at the little boy and the blonde girl behind him with a smile on his face.

Cole waved back and started to shake the signs making sure that both Topper and Rafe had noticed them, he wanted them to know that he was supporting them.

Knowing that he wouldn't be able to hear them over the sound of everyone revving their engines the pair gave Cole a thumbs up before pushing down their visors.

"I'm so excited!" The young West boy told Saylor which made her laugh and her chest fill with pride. She loved seeing him like this, so happy and joyful like a child should be. Like she should have been. "I wish Lottie was here."

"I know, me too but it's too loud for her little ears." Saylor explained. "Speaking off." She pulled out the ear plugs from her pocket. "It's about to start, keep these in until it's over okay."

Cole was a well behaved child and understood why he needed to protect his ears. He knew that his ears were bigger than Charlotte's but they aren't as big as Rafes and that's why he needs the ear plugs.

"Oh look, Johnny and JJ are riding too." A small frown then filled his face. "I didn't make them signs." His bottom lip fell into a pout, he didn't want them to think he didn't like them, he didn't want to make them sad.

"They are coming this way, if you shout loud enough they will hear you." Saylor reassured him, he was young and oblivious to the tension between her and the Pogues. He loved them, he thought they were really cool pirates who hunted treasure and talked to parrots.

John B and JJ were starting at the side closest to them and once they got in position Cole raised his hands and cupped them around his mouth. "Good luck guys! You can do it!"

John B was close enough to touch his head so leant on his bike and ruffled his hair. "Thanks bud."

"Thanks little man." JJ smiled at him and then at Saylor. He often tried to interact with his ex but she rarely gave him any kind of response so it shocked him when she did.

Saylor gave him a small anxious smile in return, she hated the annual bike race and this year there were 4 people competing that she had to worry about. Sure she wasn't really on speaking terms with her brother or the Maybank boy but that didn't mean she wanted them to crash and get flattened by the other racers.

"Let's go Rafe, you got this baby!" Sofia cheered for her boyfriend from a little further down the line in the crowd.

"Fia!" Saylor called her over knowing that she'd feel much better having someone other than a 7 year old boy by her side.

"Hey Cole!" Sofia greeted him with a smile to which he gave a small one back, he wasn't a massive fan of her. He didn't like that his Uncle Ra Ra had a different girlfriend that wasn't his Auntie Lori. "You feeling alright?" She asked Saylor aware of her anxiety.

"No." The Routledge girl replied honestly. "You?"

"Other than the fact I feel like I'm gonna violently puke, yeah I'm fine." She joked, clearly just as nervous as Saylor.

"Gross." Cole cringed. "If you're gonna be sick don't do it near me." For a child his voice was very stern.

Sofia nodded her head at his orders. "I won't be sick, I promise." She was trying to get in his good books and maybe saying she was gonna be sick near him wasn't the best idea.

Cole gave her a satisfied nod of the head before focusing back on the Race which was seconds away from starting.

"On your marks!" Sam waved the flag in the air as she yelled the starting orders. "Get set!" The sound of revving engines ripped across the beach. "GO!"
